To be clear! I do not think that there is anything wrong with me or anyone else with autism or ADHD, it is a neurological difference that is entirely unsupported by the society that we live in.

I use a physical metaphor because I know that for someone who may have absolutely zero understanding of neurological or psychological disorders and disabilities sometimes a physical one is easier to understand. However I’m also aware that people with physical disabilities as are often ALSO dismissed and treated with disregard by both society at large and the people close to them - this experience is unfortunately not an uncommon one.

The most frustrating thing I have been told since I was diagnosed by someone with zero understanding was to “have a plan”. A plan to what? Not be disabled anymore? I tried that for 34years and it led to depression, anxiety and eventually the inability to eat or get out of bed.

I am MUCH better now, and that is in large thanks to my healthcare team who have helped me navigate this new understanding of myself and my husband who has loved and supported me through everything and taken care of me when I couldn’t take care of myself.

I debated for a long time if I was going to post this or not, I recorded this when I was feeling pretty fucked off and misunderstood. But I figure if it was important enough for me to record then I should post it. If I feel this way then maybe this will help someone else to feel seen and heard, and if it gives just one person who didn’t understand a moment of “Oh” then good.

Getting diagnosed AuDHD answered a million questions I have asked about myself my entire life, most pressing being what is wrong with me, why can’t I do this and why does this feel way harder than it looks like it is for everyone else.
Now I know that nothing was wrong but a lot was different and now that I understand what is going on inside my brain I am able to give myself everything I need to alleviate my symptoms so that I can still do the things that I love.

But it does often require saying no when I once would have said yes.

Earlier in the night I had to sit alone in silence for 15 because there were too many people on the tram and I was going to have a complete meltdown 🥴

Gorrrrgeous hot pink chrome stars for a 90s and 00s themed birthday party 🥳

I used my holy grail @gaoy_official_ powder resistant topcoat of course!

For the French, we have a biscuit and perfect white by @dream.nailstore and the stars are done with their gorgeous pink colour Barbie.

I mixed the pink with a couple of drops of @d.nail_official topcoat which is great for chrome. Sticky is not the right word, It’s a very grippy topcoat which creates that mirror finish.

I always put another topcoat over the top of it because I love to rub my fingers along my nails and it is not smooth enough 🥲 so I finished her off with @dream.nailstore topcoat as well!
