Repost from @pamelanlsn

LOOKING BACK, Dec, 2022, photo by Allison V Smith. Of her mother Jerrie Marcus Smith, in her coat of many colors.
My exhibit , Pattern Language , was at Craighead Green Gallery. Memories of friendship. Special times.
Allison did a series of Jerrie looking at art. Feeling sad about Neiman Marcus downtown. Bill and I walked by there almost daily, for 23 years.
.

The historic, legendary Neiman Marcus flagship store in downtown Dallas closes its doors today. An historic moment to be recognized.

Artist Pamela Nelson pays tribute in her post. Tribute to the history, her friends, and the memories made. Thank you @pamelanlsn for this wonderful post. by @oncentergallery

Afterglow presents JAY MAGGIO, a pop-up exhibition
Opens today in Provincetown
Friday Gallery Stroll tonight 5:00-8:00 - Gallery opens daily at 11:00

Jay Maggio’s lifelong fascination with trees began in the lush landscape of South Louisiana, where towering live oaks, pecans, and a beloved mimosa tree became an important part of his childhood. After moving to Texas, Maggio found himself drawn equally to the open prairies and expansive horizons of his adopted home, and his paintings evolved into a marriage of these two landscapes—the verdant Louisiana of his past and the vast Texas of his present.

Often placing a solitary tree within an infinite expanse of land, Maggio explores ideas of life, strength, connection, and our place within the larger natural world. Working from photographs of trees that capture his attention, he renders them through a meticulous, highly detailed process, sometimes closely observing nature’s colors and at other times dramatically exaggerating them. The resulting landscapes invite the viewer to become an explorer, discovering both the majesty of the trees and the beauty and stillness of the world surrounding them.
