Community, connection and collaboration are our jam. ❤️

So when we heard about the collaboration between @uber_australia and @redcrossau Cross, we immediately thought: our community needs to know about this.
And, selfishly, I need it too. 😂
I am absolutely guilty of driving around for months with bags of clothes in the boot of my car, fully intending to donate them. Add to that the piles of clothes in my wardrobe waiting for the mythical day when I finally sort them out… and here we are.
Which is why this one feels particularly OneAnother.
It makes doing something good genuinely easy.
On Saturday 17 October, between 10am–4pm, Uber will collect quality pre-loved clothing from your door, for free, with donations going to Australian Red Cross Shops.
So if you’re anything like me, consider this your sign to tackle that pile.
Here’s the deets:
❤️ Clean, wearable, good-quality pre-loved clothing
📦 One bag or box, up to 20kg
🚗 Free collection through Uber or Uber Eats
📍 Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth + Sydney
🗓️ Saturday 17 October | 10am–4pm
Your clear-out can help give good clothes another life while supporting the work of Australian Red Cross.
And really, that gets to the heart of what we’re building here.
OneAnother is evolving, but Do Good, Feel Good — and building a Good Human Economy — will always sit at the centre of what we do.
Finding ways for people, communities, organisations and good ideas to come together. Making it easier to contribute. And proving that doing good doesn’t always have to be a big thing.
Sometimes it’s just finally getting those bloody bags out of your boot. 😂❤️
Do good. Feel good. Pass it on.

Meet @_bellastevens . Our newest human at OneAnother. 💙

And possibly one of the most OneAnother people I’ve ever met.

Bella is a surf coach, PT, Pilates and mobility instructor, breathwork facilitator, event and retreat host — and she’s now building a female surfing community of her own.

Which matters to us.

Because as we rebuild OneAnother, I don’t want to build technology for community builders from behind a laptop.

I want to build it with them.

Bella is joining us across Community, Partnerships + Event Curation, helping us work with the people building communities, the places giving them somewhere to happen, and the partners who can help make them sustainable.

When we asked Bella what belonging meant to her, she said something I loved:

“I’ve met some of my best friends at things I’ve gone to solo.”

That’s it, really.

Someone has to be brave enough to show up alone.

Someone has to send the invitation.

Someone has to create the environment where a stranger stops feeling like one.

And if we’re doing our job properly, OneAnother makes all of that a little easier.

Welcome to the team, Bella.

We’re bloody excited to build this with you. 💙

Real people. Real connection. Real life.

It’s Mental Health Awareness Month. 💙

And this year’s message — a little connection goes a long way — feels particularly close to home for us.

Because connection matters. But connection also needs somewhere to happen.

It needs the person who sends the invite.
The place that gives people somewhere to gather.
The shared interest that gives strangers something to talk about.
And, sometimes, simply a reason to leave the house and show up.

We talk a lot about the importance of connection for our mental health. At OneAnother, we’re interested in what comes next:

How do we make connection easier to actually find?

What if we treated connection like infrastructure?

Something we deliberately design for.
Something community builders are supported to create.
Something places make room for.
Something organisations and brands help fund.

Because community doesn’t just happen.

Someone builds it. Somewhere hosts it. And people have to show up.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’ll be talking more about the people, places and communities doing exactly that — and how we can build more of them.

A little connection really can go a long way.

Let’s make it easier to find. 💙

OneAnother — where community lives IRL.

isn’t the same thing as connection.

There are thousands of events. Hundreds of venues. Group chats we don’t open. Saved posts we’ll never look at again. Things we’ve been “meaning to try” for six months.

The problem isn’t always that there’s nothing to do.

Sometimes there’s too much to choose from — and nobody making it easier to find the thing that feels like us.

That’s one of the problems we’re interested in solving at OneAnother.

Not more things to scroll through.

Better ways to find your people, your places and something worth leaving the house for. #humanconnection #oneanotherIRL #communityisking by @oneanother.community

Last time we found the groups. This time we’re looking at where they happen.

Because community doesn’t only happen in community centres.

It happens on pickleball courts. In cafés. Coworking spaces. Wellness studios. Galleries. Workshops. Play spaces. Old cinemas.

These are some of the Central Coast places giving us a reason to leave the house, do something we enjoy and, quite often, meet someone while we’re there.

Because sometimes finding your people starts with finding somewhere worth showing up to.

We know we’ve missed some. That’s the point.

Where do you go to do something and end up connecting with people?

Nearly two years ago, OneAnother hosted a Sober October event.

Not because we had a report telling us alcohol-free socialising was about to become a growth category.

Because we could see a community forming.

People were changing the way they socialised. Some were sober. Some were sober-curious. Some just wanted to go out, meet people and have a great night without alcohol being the main event.

So we made space for them.

Two years later, sober socialising is everywhere. Brands have noticed. Venues have noticed. Hospitality has noticed.

And looking back, I think that’s the bit of OneAnother I’ve underestimated.

We weren’t particularly good at predicting trends. We were good at noticing people.

The run clubs. The women’s groups. The wellness communities. The people looking for friends. The founders creating gatherings around interests that didn’t have a neat category yet.

Long before someone calls something a “trend”, there are usually already people quietly building a community around it.

That’s who we’re interested in.

The people who are already gathering before everybody else realises there’s something worth gathering around.

That’s the Belonging Economy. by @oneanother.community

Tag the person you’ve been “meaning to catch up with” since March.

This is your sign to stop saying we should and put an actual date in the diary.

COMMUNITY FOUNDERS / 04: @mandy_j_millan Millan, @reach_biz_community

There’s networking. And then there’s finding the people who actually get it.

After years of leaving traditional networking events feeling disconnected, Mandy Millan decided to build the kind of room she wanted to be in.

3.5 years later, @reach_biz_community has hosted 120+ in-person events, connecting thousands of entrepreneurs across Umina Beach, Manly and Newcastle — with mentoring, online sessions and a buddy system extending the connection beyond the room.

But the bit we love most isn’t the numbers.

It’s Mandy’s belief that the real measure of community is what happens after everyone goes home.

Did someone meet the person they needed to meet?
Did they leave clearer?
More confident?
Less alone?
Did a friendship, referral, collaboration or opportunity begin?

Because building a business can be lonely. And sometimes one conversation, one introduction or one person saying “I get it” changes everything.

As Mandy puts it:

“Proximity is everything.”

This is exactly why we’re telling the stories of the people doing the often invisible work of bringing others together.

And why we’re building OneAnother /IRL around them.

You build the community. We’re building what makes it easier.

Know a brilliant community founder we should meet next? Tag them below. 👇

For six years, we’ve been asking the same question: what else could this place be?

At OneAnother, we’ve taken traditional spaces and created entirely new experiences inside them.

We’ve hosted a sound bath in a pavilion.

Turned a hotel restaurant into a place for strangers to sit around a table and connect.

Written letters to elderly Australians from a balcony overlooking Bondi Beach.

We weren’t building new spaces.

We were reimagining the ones already there — and creating reasons for people to come together inside them.

Then, on a recent call with James from @racqueteer.au , he said something that genuinely surprised me:

A pickleball court is roughly twice the size of the average Sydney apartment.

And immediately my brain went:

Imagine what else we could do with that space when there isn’t a match happening.

Pilates.
A podcast recording.
Dinner.
A workshop.
A community event.

Because perhaps the opportunity isn’t simply to fill empty spaces.

It’s to reimagine what those spaces are for.

Hotels. Restaurants. Sporting venues. Studios. Retail spaces. Pavilions. Balconies. Offices.

What could happen there if we invited community in?

That’s a big part of what we’re building with Places by OneAnother — connecting the people building communities with the places that can give those communities somewhere to come to life.

So, if you own or manage a space, here’s the question I’d love you to think about:

How could you transform your space to welcome community builders — and help their communities thrive?

Same space. Bigger possibilities.

You don’t need 50,000 followers to be valuable to a brand or venue.

If you bring real people together, maybe through a run club, women’s circle, founder meetup, social group or grassroots movement, you’ve created something valuable.

The challenge is knowing how to turn that value into the right partnership.

What can you offer?
What should you ask for?
How do you pitch it without feeling awkward?

We’ve created the free **OneAnother Community Partnership Starter Kit** to help.

Inside:

💙 Three practical partnership models
💛 A checklist of what to offer and agree upfront
💗 A pitch template you can copy, adapt and use

Because community builders deserve the infrastructure, tools and partnerships that help their communities become sustainable and scalable.

Comment **COMMUNITY** below—or DM us the word **COMMUNITY**—and we’ll send it straight to you.

Real people. Real connection. Real life.
