🍁 Autumnal Flatlay 🍁

“If a year was tucked inside a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour.”

Spooky season is knocking at the door, and I’m more than ready for it.

🍂 What’s on your autumnal reading list?

I always revisit ‘Salem’s Lot in October, the perfect book for the time of year.

🎈Happy 40th Birthday 🎈

“We all float down here.”

40 years ago, King introduced us to Derry, the Losers’ Club, and one of the best villains ever put on the page.

IT isn’t just one of King’s best novels, it’s one of the books that helped shape my love of horror. The sheer size of it, the unforgettable characters, the coming-of-age story woven through the horror, and the infamous Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Four decades later, Pennywise is still just as scary, and as popular as ever, pretty much cementing IT as one of the most influential horror novels ever written.

Here’s to 40 years of nightmares, friendship, and floating.

What an amazing day yesterday stalking @joe_hill. My first port of call was @waterstonesmcr for the King Sorrow book signing. Joe also signed my US hardcover which was the first one he had seen and signed on UK soil. I also had the latest 20th Century Ghosts signed too.

We briefly chatted about his book, the @blackcrow_bks King Sorrow edition (which is his favourite edition) and Oasis. He definitely appreciated my t-shirt.

After leaving Manchester I headed home, quick change and in the car to @waterstonesleeds for the second event - an evening with Joe Hill. It was great to hear him talk about his new book, his life and also his dad. Joe is such a really nice guy and it was an absolute pleasure meeting him… twice!

Gimme a shout if you were at any of these events yesterday!

‼️ Aardvark Book Club ‼️

When @aardvarkbookclubuk reached out and asked if I’d be interested in a gifted curated box, I was basically like… HELL YEAH! 😂

I’ve been over here in the UK watching all my US book lovers getting their Aardvark picks and being very jealous, so when I heard they were launching in the UK, I was very excited to get involved.

I read The Reformatory by @tananarivedue last year and absolutely loved it, and Mazywood has been on my wishlist pretty much since it was announced. I cannot wait to get stuck into this one.

Then we have Kiss Slay Replay by @rachelharrisonsghost, which has been popping up all over my feed lately. After reading Play Nice and So Thirsty, this was already firmly on the wishlist. Plus, I’m an absolute sucker for a time-loop story, so this one had me immediately.

Safe to say Aardvark understood the assignment - this is the perfect box for October! Two books I genuinely wanted and two I’m very excited to read 🙌🏻

Go check out Aardvark Book Club now! And as an introductory offer, use code LAUNCH at checkout and your first book is only £8.99!

“Go then. There are other worlds than these.”

New King book day is always a good day, but I’m ridiculously excited for this one! 🔥
Hodder have absolutely smashed it with this edition too. One of the best looking King releases in a long time 😍

🍂🎃 Happy 1st October 🎃🍂

In my opinion, there’s only one way to properly kick off October.

I come back to this book every year around this time, and it never loses its magic. The small-town atmosphere, the creeping dread, the sense that something is very fucking wrong just beneath the surface. King absolutely nailed it with ‘Salem’s Lot.

October is the perfect month for horror. The dark evenings are back, the weather turns colder, and there’s no better excuse to get lost in a good scary book. So as another spooky season begins, I’m heading back to that small New England town and the dark secrets of the Marston House.

What book kicks off October for you? 🎃🍁👻

🎸 Two for Tuesday 😈

I’m such a huuuuge fan of Joe Hill, so when Headline announced they were repackaging and re-releasing his backlist in paperback, I knew I was going to end up buying every single one.

The first two releases, NOS4A2 and The Fireman, landed on my shelves a little while ago, and now the next pair have arrived.

As much as I already own these stories, I just can’t resist picking up these new editons, the covers are stunning. Heart-Shaped Box remains one of my favourite debut horror novels, and Horns is such a brilliantly dark, weird and emotional read.

Safe to say Headline are doing a fantastic job with these reissues. My wallet may disagree though 🫠

🍁 Shelfie Sunday 🍁

Last week I shared a reel showing how I’d dressed up the bookcases for autumn, so I thought I’d follow it up with a few photos.

There’s always something else I could add, but for now I’m really happy with how it all looks. The cosy autumn vibes are well and truly here, and it’s made my favourite room in the house feel even more inviting.

Do you decorate your bookshelves for spooky season? 🍂👻🎃

“If it ain’t dying I’m talking about, it’s living. I doubt it matters where you die, but it matters where you live.”

So, this bad boy arrived today.

Now, I’ve never been a huge fan of the western genre. I’m a horror and sci-fi lover at heart, and if I’m honest, I’ve never actually read a western before. But by God, just look at this edition 😍

The Broken Binding have absolutely knocked it out of the park with Lonesome Dove. The artwork, the design, the attention to detail is just stunning.

Maybe this will be my first foray into this unknown wilderness. Have you read Lonesome Dove?

$🍁 Fracassi Flatlay 🍁 It’s a Fracassi double blessing today! If you’ve seen my earlier post, @blackcrow_bks are releasing an omnibus edition of Behold the Void and Beneath a Pale Sky in November, and it looks amazing! Go preorder now! If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that Philip is one of my favourite writers, a guy who in my opinion can cover a multitude of genres at such an exceptional and consistent level - every story is an absolute banger. Here’s a selection of some of his killer covers! #philipfracassi #horror #cosmichorror #scifi #shortstories by @oneconstantreader$
