a night of gorgeous Japanese-inspired craft cocktails at the Whisky Thief at Prefecture 48 in the Sydney CBD

the bar is in this beautiful, intimate venue with stunning Japanese art on the walls and a detailed whisky menu

cocktails were beautifully crafted, and as (self-proclaimed) seasoned whisky collectors and drinkers, we were so impressed by the subtle flavours and combinations that they created

we came after dinner but next time will be back to try the food menu as well

Parisian luxury in Sydney CBD for just $22 (this might be the best champagne deal in Sydney!)

Parlour is serving a glass of Perrier-Jouët champagne for only $22 (normally $35 at most restaurants!) and it comes with a delicious truffle parmesan twist

the renaissance-inspired architecture with a touch of art deco is so stunning, and feels like a cosy candlelit evening in Paris

we came during happy hour to also try their aperitivo menu, which were so delicious and perfect to go with the champagne

we got the oysters ($3 each) which are the perfect pairing with bubbles, the steak tartare ($30), seared scallops ($12 each), prawn roll ($17), filet o fish ($17), and vol-au-vent ($10)

all delicious and can’t go wrong with any of them, but our personal faves were the steak tartare and seared scallops

bubbles with bites is perfect for a date night or a catch up with the girls

$90 set menu at a contemporary japanese restaurant in sydney - is it worth it?

the salmon tataki is so fresh and made with high quality salmon, and the perfectly cooked steak paired so well with each of the sauces (all of them brought out a different flavour of the steak and it was all so delicious)

the sushi has an unusual crunch that might not be for everyone, but personally I enjoyed the texture and flavour combination

overall I think for $90 it’s a great value tasting menu, the portions are on the slightly smaller side but I was still quite full afterwards

recommend for a date night to try a lot of different dishes

will definitely come back for the salmon and the steak (my faves from the tasting menu, will probably order it off à la carte!)

a cafe in a gorgeous 19th century building! what a beautiful concept

the Victorian-era architecture is so stunning, and it feels so peaceful with the natural light and the leafy courtyard, just such a lovely place for brunch or even a solo breakfast with a book

we ordered the blue swimmer crab linguine ($45) and salmon bagel ($28), both of which were excellent

the linguine was cooked perfectly, with generous portions of clams and crab

highly recommend eating the bagel with the fried capers, tastes great with a bit of crunchy texture to it

can see why it’s such a popular spot, we would love to try the dumplings next time.

this gorgeous hidden gem has a 7-dish tasting menu you can try for just $50 (normally valued at $89)?!

perfect for a date night! we got influenced by @what.angelaate who shared this amazing set menu deal where if you book on @firsttable, you can get 50% off the set menu (not including a $12 booking fee and 1 required drink off the drinks menu)

set menu includes:
grilled sourdough with koji butter
Hokkaido scallop crudo ⭐️
mushroom tartare ⭐️
crispy pork belly ⭐️
charred cauliflower ⭐️
hibachi grilled steak ⭐️
dressed leaves salad

the serving sizes are a bit smaller given that it’s a tasting menu, but all the dishes were outstanding, in particular the juicy scallops, pork belly with a delicious caramelised crunchy outside, and surprisingly the perfectly charred cauliflower

the interior is also absolutely gorgeous and they have a fabulous selection of whiskies which we happily sampled

what an amazing value meal and absolute delight

we found a $1 oyster happy hour in sydney at this new CBD restaurant

the oysters were so fresh and paired perfectly with the other aperitivo drinks, especially the martini and negroni

the other food offerings were also delicious, but the burger in particular was a surprising stand out

definitely coming back again to try the rest of the à la carte menu!

a vibey, intimate spot that transports you to an underground moody Italian resto

third time visiting because I want to try the entire menu, and once again, everything was impeccable, from service to the cocktails to the dishes

highly highly recommend tuna caponata (the restaurant’s highlight), steak tartare and the spinach & egg yolk pasta with duck ragu

will be back a 4th time! one of the best dining experiences in Sydney

we found the best pancakes in Sydney at this buzzing retro-themed diner

the honey butter pancake was deliciously fresh, bouncy and soft, with caramelised edges and portions perfect for sharing (it’s huge!)

the coffees are excellent too, and we loved the sausage & egg burger

we had heard that the service leaves something to be desired, but we didn’t have any issues other than it being so busy and a bit overwhelming for the staff

will be back to try the steak and pulled beef sandwich which also caught our eye

greatest hits of the last 6 months of Sydney’s incredible food scene (alarmingly we’re halfway through the year already)

two salmon crudos featured because they were both excellent and we couldn’t just pick one

will definitely be back for all of these again within the next six months

a beautiful French restaurant in the heart of Surry Hills

revisited one of my all time fave brassieres and once again, an amazing selection of dishes and beautiful ambiance

perfect date night or girls night spot for a more elevated experience, will definitely be back (again)
