Recent trip to Oslo was accompanied by Mr @wernerherzogofficial 's latest book #TheFutureOfTruth - the good man is fully up to speed with what is happening in the world and gives readers strong evidence that his entire lifetime work is indeed a search for whether the search for any truth is possible. A text that can easily be studied together with multiple STS works on knowledge symmetry or philosophical works on the ethics of truthfulness. It was also great to see #WernerHerzog 's own experiments with generative AI, his twice vitriolic comment about the video in which his simulacrum is in conversation with that of a famous Slovenian philosopher with a certain accent, getting to see a person of his carat to relentlessly advocate for the right to, and the pleasures of, walking, and confirmation that he'd rather be dead than be seen in a toupee. The cover is so thoughtful too. I even managed to get a signed copy, thanks to @lighthousebks !

Oslo was great, mostly due to my reuniting with remarkable souls - such as @iremgj who gifted me with her zaman taptaze (always fresh!) Turkish delights. Here's to the next rejoice!

Return was marked by a @darkrevolutionbeer Night Drive, fitting the bill as a vanilla, cacao, and apricot stout.

Mandatory pause to appreciate the work that has gone into the art #Spawn77 by Mark Spears @markspearsart - to me, the 2026 equivalent to Alex Ross's Marvels or Kingdom Come in terms of exploiting photorealist techniques to convey a connection to half a century ago. Stunning work. I am not convinced about the plot as of yet, but need to wait for issues 2 and 3 to release before offering final thoughts. Still, every panel is a masterpiece.

Well paired to the art by Stuart Allan @stallan_ offered as label for @vaultcitybrewing 's Fruits of the Forest #singlestackedbreakfastwaffle sour. Hot damn.

I learned about #TheElementsOfEloquence by @markforsythauthor after attending the BBC Maestro writing course by Alan Moore last year.

It made a good recent travel companion offering a handy "pokédex" kind of field guide to rhetoric - at least that's how i am becoming mostly interested about it; not so much the practice of performing but the habit and method of detecting these more or less intentional techniques in hype-saturated envionments (although I know @manolispolychronides may have further recommendations for this matter!).

The examples brought are very well-curated, mixing classics with moderns, including pop culture, film and music - even De La Soul!

My charity shop copy included an interesting letter too...

Here's to some more independent brews: Tama, salt caramel and biscuit stout from @gardenbrewery / @gardentaproom all the way from lovely Zagreb and a tasty Orkney IPA from @swannaybrewery - both stocked at the next door beer shop👌

My very first ambigram! With thanks to @blackman1422 for alerting me to my favourite Douglas Hofstadter's latest book (that I'm currently half way through), I know have this new obsession about word designs that can be read from at least two sides, sometimes in the same way. You can turn this one 180° to see what happens! And then again. And again. And again. Until you run out of energy.

I thought that my first ambigram should be something self-referential, so ouroboros had to be it. Poor animals, ourobori. Condemned to eternally eat their tails. Poor @nikkoz_0 with whom we share a mutual passion for ourobori so he had to tolerate all of my attempts at making this. As far as I'm concerned, no one has made an ouroboros ambigram, so there you go, i hereby patent it. Lol.

If you swipe, you will also see another stab at ouroboros - closer to an Austin Osman Spare type of sigil containing all letters of the word (check for yourself! There is o, u, r, o, b, o, r, o, and s!). You will also get to see some more ink and myself presenting recently at a conference panel on loops and loopholes where i suggested that a better definition of a loophole (instead of the French etymology) should be a loop that leaks, like those leaking ourobori. Poor animals. But I already said that. See what I did there.

Anyway, this also happens to be inktober but i don't have the time to draw daily, etc. And I've always been inattentive to the "official prompts." So take these as my (likely) sole contributions to the feast. And keep inking!

PS. @drcaroljasper - ouroboros begins (and ends) with an "OUR" - Hmmm..!

Further excavation at @avalancherecords - boy i got me some hot deals from my personal golden era of hip-hop! 2003 @jdawildchild #SecondaryProtocol and 2005 #JoshMartinez #MidriffMusic - only managed to have bootlegged versions of these when young, so I still feel crazy excited when I spot such albums in the wild. Speaking of wild. Wildchild's latest album is fire. And I wish Martinez makes a comeback.

A couple recent Seventy Ones - Maracujá tropical and Hazy IPA - were very fitting.

People has been enquiring as to the continuity of my obsession with collecting items relating to the now very well-known and highly commercialised favourite black-and-red comicbook figure of mine. Well, of course. What i find mostly interesting is that one does not even need to go to the comic shop for this anymore. Local B&M or Asda will not infrequently stock various figure configurations, pyjama sets, even chocolate mini candy.

It is even now possibly to join a Workers' Union named after the acronym "I, Wade Wilson." How terrific!

Grateful to @_kathryncarter for alerting me to #RogerGilbertLecomte 's poetry. I have certainly encountered the name of the rogue surrealist during my two decade old now investigations but have never been in acquainted to his visceral and Buddhist-ish poetry. Neither did I know there's even a beef across the two available translations.

A #ThomasHardyAle (matured in French Oak casks) and an #OlaDubh18 (Harviestoun matured in 18 year old single Highland Park casks) remain good memories from this summer.

It's beginning of the semester again and I feel the urge to inspire students as much as I can - and yet important to be inspired before inspiring. Finally got to read some #BaltasarGracián following Wark's epigrams in Leaving the Twentieth Century - one of Guy Debord's favourites. While that's not the complete Oracle, chance encounter with tbe abridged Penguin at the bookstore demanded that I leave with it.

Dangerous and healing weapons of choice contained inside there.

Joyful treat over the summer - one more #VilémFlusser translation, this time curated and translated by @jaffe.aaron , Michael F. Miller, Andrew Battaglia, and Daniel Raschke, being a selection of Flusser's final Bochum lectures. A great selection, compact, demonstrating what is really unique for Flusserian addicts from these lectures, including Flusser's direct dialogue with authors of his time (and of previous times) and few more experimental ideas.

We were blessed to make acquaintance with our neighbour from @stenrothbrewing coop who kindly offered us three of their really excellent locally made brews. Excellent hazies and a very distinct mango sour. Our liqueur store next street is always getting out of stock but I promise I am not the only one to be involved in the process..
