🦅🇺🇸 FREEDOM WITHIN

Today we honor freedom—a word tied to flags, fireworks, and history.
Those freedoms matter. They deserve respect.

But yoga points us inward to another kind of freedom.
One no one can give you.
And no one can take away.

The freedom from believing every thought you think.

Our minds are powerful storytellers—replaying the past, predicting the future, comparing, judging, worrying.

And without noticing… we start to believe it all is truth.

On the mat, we practice something different.

We notice the thought… and return to the breath.
We notice the judgment… and return to presence.
We notice the fear… and soften instead of gripping.

Real freedom isn’t the absence of thoughts.
It’s the ability to stop following every one of them.

As you move today, ask yourself:

What thought am I ready to declare independence from?

“I’m not enough.”
“I’m too late.”
“I have to be perfect.”
“Things will never change.”

Let this be your quiet declaration of freedom—not from life… but from the stories that keep you small.

definitely feels surreal. grew up together..:from east meadow to the university of Maryland …nobody will ever beat his time in our car rides between the two…or play better music. My heart goes out to his boys, family, and his lifetime best friends. by @oneworldonemat
