Refugees are teachers, parents, professionals and students. They left everything behind to seek safety from conflict, disaster or persecution. Right now, more people are displaced than at any time in recorded history.

This #WorldRefugeeDay, let's reflect on how we in Singapore can play our part in supporting refugees.

Some ways to show your support:
1️⃣ Donate to charities and groups that support refugees (tagged on our post)
2️⃣ Learn about and share refugee stories
3️⃣ Keep a lookout on this page for upcoming events!

"Kindness feels like a warm hug on a cold day."

This #RefugeeWeek, #OurSuperpower is community and kindness 🧡

We invited Singaporeans to reflect on the importance of kindness and what connects us as people, and this is the result 🤗

What does community and kindness mean to you?

This #RefugeeWeek, #OurSuperpower is community and kindness 🧡

In an increasingly hostile world where millions are forced to flee their homes, community is more important than ever. Our community is not just where we live, but how we live together and the values we hold close.

What does community and kindness mean to you?

On Wednesday, 5 February 2025, the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (link to CNA video in bio) was delivered in the Parliament of Singapore by MP Louis Ng. The motion called for greater government support for groups such as AFR-SG and Monolith, on the following key areas:

1️⃣ Registration Flexibility
2️⃣ Streamlined Process for Application of Permits to Fundraise for Foreign Charitable Causes
3️⃣ Waiver of the 80-20 Fundraising Rule

AFR-SG supports the recommendations made: calling for the government to 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 groups like ours to grow and evolve in a supportive ecosystem, for policies to 𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 people to be charitable within and beyond our borders.

We will continue to 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 with government stakeholders to drive meaningful change. If you’re passionate about making a difference, register for our volunteer recruitment below!
