Grateful to do crazy things in wild places with great people.

Third year @saddles100, this time crewing, pacing & supporting a group of 10+ runners & 25+ travelers. So many intimate moments that have come from a silly little hobby called running.

Heat, Rocks, & Cobwebs was the theme of the @gajewel 5 Hour PR on course, 5th place finish. That was a tough one, hot ass day. I didn’t hit my goal of sub 24, but looks like no one was able too, conditions were rough, one of the hottest days in race history. Regardless extremely happy & satisfied with my performance today, despite my gut not agreeing with me today. I did this race in 2022, and it took me 34 hours to complete. Grateful to have the ability to push myself more and more.

As for a quick race report from myself:
Boy was that tough. The heat certainly took a toll, plenty of moments that I could feel myself overheating. Despite keeping a controlled effort & feeling strong, I believe the hotness may have put additional strain on my stomach due to increased fluid intake for dealing with the heat. With the start beginning at noon, we were left to deal with a brutal 90 degree sun off bat that only got hotter from there. This also led to some palate fatigue that felt me feeling wizzy from miles 36 onwards. Which then leads to some under fueling and energy loss, despite still feeling like I had some strong legs under me. Then came nightfall, with the darkness my circadian rhythm was kicking strong and man did it tell me that it was time to sleep. I would have taken a dirt nap but the light from my headlamp simmered plenty of little jewels on the forest floor, it’s pretty until you realize those are all spider eyes staring right at you ahaha. So I slept walked/ran miles 36-50, leading me to take 3x 20+ mins in between aid stations stops, but we got back up. From there I threw up a handful of times, but we kept calm and kept it pushing and trying to find anything that would possibly go down. I knew that if I wanted to have any form of push I would need to continue intake.

And the last thing was as killer was the blisters that built up from dealing with all those damn rocks lol rock garden fr.

With Ultra prep wrapping up, I captured some quick moments before we’re toeing the starting line. Excited to be pursuing a goal of trying to go sub 24hrs in a trail 100 miler, shooting for what feel like the stars in my eyes 🌌

Wherever we land, I’m already fulfilled with the way the build has played out. Another building block in a sport I never imagined myself in.

A goal is a compass for the work that must be put in, but in the end, the work put in while on the journey ends up being the reward. It’s not supposed to be easy, but it sure is possible so keep on dreaming & working for it 💫 by @only_ov

About last weekend… Loop the Hooch.

“The vibes were electric on Saturday morning. A crowd gathered for a sporting event like no other. An event to watch, support & take on a big distance on feet. The stage was set and with the support of the Loop the Hooch organizers, it provided the opportunity for runners to show out for themselves. This event felt like a big celebration with a 50K in between. You gotta love it.”

Job got done, came back and got me another buckle along with a good passage to add to my story!! @satisfyrunning @saddles100 ✅

There is no problem with failing and getting back up!!! You have the option to let your failure build a wall to stop you or to let it be apart of the fuel to overcome the challenges ahead!

I DNF’d this race last year at mile 41, it served as a reminder that a finish is earned, not only on race day, but every single day leading up.

Got back in the lab & was able to come back and complete it in 31 hours and 13 minutes, a 4 hour PB on a 100 miler with 10k+ of elevation gained

Congratulations to @lucid_betts for completing his first 100!!! & @ooctavio_aguadoo on crushing the 50!!!! Wasn’t easy but it was a well deserved finish!

Thank you to our pacers and crew @sylinaflowers @nandoinfante @call_me_kaitlin @zirisilva, yall helped make a growling time, great 🙏🏽

Huge thank you to @julianlcurry with @on for kitting us up, the gear helped get us to the finish line 🏁 The CloudUltra Pros were great on the ever changing terrain & the vest is impressive!!
