If your snapdragons have finished flowering, don’t pull them out just yet.

One of the best things about snapdragons is that they’re a true “cut and come again” flower. By removing spent flower spikes and cutting back to a healthy set of leaves or side shoots, you can encourage the plant to produce more blooms throughout the growing season.

In this video, I show exactly where I make the cut and how a few seconds of pruning can help keep the display going for much longer.

I started this page just sharing what I was doing in the garden, learning as I went, making mistakes, figuring things out properly over time.

I’m not a professional gardener — just someone who enjoys it, puts the effort in, and shares what actually works (and what doesn’t).

Being a full-time gardener doesn’t mean I need to feel guilty about:

• Charging what I charge
• Saying no to jobs I’m unsure about
• Not having the best equipment
• Taking time off for my family
• Saying “I don’t know, but I’ll find out”

I won’t pretend to have every answer. I will put the effort into finding the right one.

Gardening advice that drives me mental 😅

Weed membrane under bark. Stones in the bottom of pots. Cutting EVERYTHING back in autumn. Constant feeding. Writing off plants that look dead in winter.

No wonder gardening feels confusing when this is the advice being passed around.

• Felco No. 2 secateurs
• Niwaki Hori Hori
• WOLF-Garten multi-change handle
• Large fan rake
• Short-handled shovel

You don’t need a shed full of equipment. Start with tools you’ll reach for regularly.

Give the plants a pep talk.
Have a nosy at the neighbour’s garden.
Check on bulbs planted approximately ten minutes ago.

Position the best pots in full view of the street. For your own enjoyment, obviously.
