This is a 5 over 2 lightweight wood frame mixed use apartment complex, meaning 5 stories of living space and 2 stories of commercial and parking space. Looking down from the roof you can see this is the “donut hole” of the structure. The building is 91 feet tall with over 400 apartments! The questions you must ask yourself are what’s your plan for trapped occupants rescue? How’s your portable ladder skills, rescue rope skills, aerial placement, and knowledge of your building layout and systems? When it comes to engine ops, you must know hose packs & equipment, standpipe ops, rope stretches, and stairway designations. If you’re unsure of any of this, you’re already losing on the Fireground. #fireservicetraining #bigbuildings #firechallenges taken in Everett, Massachusetts by @onscenetraining

Do you know what a Ground scraper is? Is your department prepared for these massive Fireground challenges? The @everettfirelocal143 has tons of these replacing legacy buildings in their city and knew they needed to train and adjust their operations and equipment set-ups. They brought in @onscenetraining in for 8 straight days of lecture and hands on in a mixed use building with over 400 apartments, stores , and parking garages that was partially occupied and partially still under construction. Real hook ups, hose pack stretches, searches, and rig placement has these hard hitters headed in the right direction! @fmjack1948 Chief Jack Murphy led our team with @stevebarton536 and @aaronheller3901 assisting. If you’re interested in a program like this in your area please let us know. #groundscrapers #fireservicetraining taken in Everett Fire Department by @onscenetraining

The Longmeadow Fire Department hosted @onscenetraining for a two-day Extrication Operations program this week led by OSTA instructor Steve Barton. Personnel reviewed New Vehicle Technology and had the chance to utilize their full range of tools and equipment while working through several scenarios. A week of training to include shipboard fire behavior, fire attack and control, search, patient packaging and moving, downed firefighter CPR, aircraft emergencies, and more with the crew of the Emergency Response Team tasked with protecting the newest US Navy Destroyers when they go out on sea trials is always one of OSTA’s most important weeks of the year. It’s a honor to be trusted with such an important mission. Thanks to the BIW ERT for putting in the work! #firefighter #fireservicetraining #emergencyresponseteam #bathbuiltisbestbuilt taken in General Dynamics Bath Iron Works by @onscenetraining

Boston and New York may never agree on sports. But some things are bigger than any rivalry. 🇺🇸

343 miles. Boston to New York City. One mission.

This weekend was a powerful reminder of the bond that exists between these two great cities - and throughout the fire service.

Twenty-five years after September 11, 2001, firefighters continue to make sure the 343 FDNY members who made the ultimate sacrifice are never forgotten. Their courage, sacrifice and legacy live on in every generation of firefighters who follows.

Seeing the fire service come together in Boston before making the journey to New York is a reminder that when it matters most, there are no rivalries. No competing cities. Just one fire service, standing together.

For all of us at @symtechfire there is another connection that makes this especially meaningful. We have had the incredible privilege of building fire training systems for both the Boston Fire Department and FDNY.

Seeing firefighters from these departments training on equipment our team built is something we will never take for granted. We build the equipment - but they train so they’re ready to run toward what everyone else is running away from.

That responsibility means a lot to us.

From Boston to New York, we remember the 343, honor all those lost on September 11, and recognize the firefighters and first responders who continue to carry their legacy forward.

343 miles. One mission. Never forget. 🇺🇸
