At my big age of 49, I wonder if I have done enough, given enough, said enough, shown up enough…
I sometimes question whether I am building something of my own or spending most of my energy building other people dreams. Maybe I’m just afraid to see what I can do or maybe I was conditioned to put others first.

I keep wondering how my dad would have made it through Covid times. He was always going somewhere and talking to people. I’m shocked I still got it after the travel restrictions were lifted.

I was terrified being so vulnerable in a strange place. But I wasn’t alone. This was my third trip to Ghana and I had friends who became family.

2021 was a year of facing myself…my strengths and my weaknesses… What should have been 3 months turned into 8 months. I learned so much about the sadness I was holding onto from someone who truly saw through the smile and laughter.

I started to learn my connection to America was real and stronger than my desire to “be African”. I started to love myself more.

I’m realizing now that I have so much more to experience in life. It’s time to come completely out of this cocoon I’m in. by @onthegowithdeb

Being from SC makes me love and hate this country at the same time! Our version of the trail of tears is not fully documented.

All I know is the #santee #wateree #yamassee people were shipped off to parts unknown, killed, murdered or enslaved with African enslaved people.

So I’m going to continue to praise the @buzstopboys because they have been doing this for three years now.

They have perfected the process of cleaning up waste in the gutters and on the street knowing the right things to do.

I find it strange that the current president didn’t coordinate with them to get a better understanding of what truly needed to be done. They should have properly prepared citizens with the information and the supplies that they needed to successfully do a two day sanitation and cleanup initiative.
