Mercer Football - Defensive meeting for Saturday, followed by a devotional/study of Numbers 13.

Are you being Obedient to God with the talents and abilities that He gave you?
Are you choosing to act in faith or in fear?
Are you willing to fight giants if God commands you to?

Mercer All Athlete Huddle!!

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We talked about Psalms 1, and what it means to meditate on something. This led us to think about what we meditate on most of the time - stress, school, sports, etc. It usually leaves us feeling anxious and uneasy.

This brought us to our Key passage.

“If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”
‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Abiding in His love means full trust. This is our daily goal as we meditate on the Law of the Lord.

“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭103‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

We talked about God’s character and the analogy of an earthly father. He corrects, but with mercy and grace. As Believers, we know this and as proven disciples - we are called to tell others. We ended the night by praying for the lost sheep in our lives and our boldness as we search for them.

Join us for our Huddle next Wednesday!!!
