After months of touring at festivals across the states, @yuandmedoc finally returned home to nyc to premiere for our hometown audience! Thank you to @asiancinevision for selecting our doc for the 49th AAIFF and putting us in conversation with other heart-opening films. Feels surreal to sell out our theater at @villageeastangelika and to now be a part of a beautiful legacy of indie filmmakers who have made their way through here, to see the names of our entirely AAPI crew roll through the screen, and to witness a giant - @lucyyuart in all her courage and love.

Thank you to our community for supporting @oofstories and @yuandmedoc ❤️ Stay tuned for community screenings in the coming months and in the meantime see yall at @yuandmebooks ~~

What happens when a place that holds a community together is suddenly gone? And what happens when that community refuses to let it stay gone?

In a city where developers, corporate money, and gentrification have already made it nearly impossible for independent owners like this to create spaces and survive, a fire destroys a beloved Chinatown bookstore. YU AND ME follows its fiercely passionate owner as she learns that community is what survival actually looks like.

This film by Claudine Cho and Ester Chan is showing Sunday, June 14 at 7pm as a part of the #QWOCFF QUEER ASIAN SPIRIT screening, where we screen six films that ask what it means to carry a history forward and make it yours. Join us at Presidio Theatre (99 Moraga Ave, SF).

@yuandmedoc goes to @mountainfilm in Telluride ❤️🏔️

We had the best time screening our film to over 800+ people (with 2 sold out showings‼️) this Memorial Day weekend! We were a part of the “Indomitable Spirits” documentary shorts block where we were paired with some incredible films such as @rainbowriderfilm 🌈 by @the_newt_estimate, Submitting Tigers 🐅 by @julija_mma_pajic @kellermouse @wpeat, and @oxbowbrewingcompany by @reelasdirt 🍻

To watch our film be so well received and loved by so many people fills our hearts deeply. We made a film full of love, community, vulnerability, and triumph and were so touched by how many people resonated with it 🎬

We have more festival runs coming up and can’t wait for Yu all to watch @yuandmedoc 🫶 taken in Telluride, Colorado by @oofstories

Kicking off AAPI Heritage Month & The 29th Annual Asian American Showcase!
In collaboration with Kundiman Midwest, we’re celebrating the start of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with an evening of cinema and poetry! Join us for Modern Portraits: An Evening of AAPI Short Films and Poetry, the official kickoff event for The 29th Annual Asian American Showcase.

Come early to enjoy light Vietnamese bites from @just.an.choi and connect with Chicago film lovers, writers, and creatives during our community mixer, then stay to experience a celebration of AAPI voices through film and poetry. After a screening of literary-inspired documentaries and experimental animation, enjoy a live reading by poets Lisa Low, Meg Kim, Dawn Angelicca Barcelona, and Darshita Jain.
