We Resist, and We Roll! We’re proud to be a Co-Presenter @qwocmap 22nd annual International Queer Women of Color Film Festival! 🌈 ❤️‍🔥 🎸

Featuring 49 films by queer women, nonbinary, and trans filmmakers of color, the festival opened with satellite screenings in May and builds to three days at San Francisco’s historic Presidio Theatre on June 12-14! Satellite screenings will continue through August and October.

Across all of it, ancestral land practices and cultural preservation, radical protest and daring heists, tender love stories and intergenerational connections, these are the films our communities make when resistance and filmmaking happen in the same breath.

What happens when a place that holds a community together is suddenly gone? And what happens when that community refuses to let it stay gone?

In a city where developers, corporate money, and gentrification have already made it nearly impossible for independent owners like this to create spaces and survive, a fire destroys a beloved Chinatown bookstore. YU AND ME follows its fiercely passionate owner as she learns that community is what survival actually looks like.

This film by Claudine Cho and Ester Chan is showing Sunday, June 14 at 7pm as a part of the #QWOCFF QUEER ASIAN SPIRIT screening, where we screen six films that ask what it means to carry a history forward and make it yours. Join us at Presidio Theatre (99 Moraga Ave, SF).

Be sure to follow our amazing community partners: Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center (@apicc_sf), Asian Pacific Islander Queer Women & Transgender Community (@apiqwtc), Asian Women’s Shelter (@sf_aws), Center for Asian American Media (@caamedia), Chinese Culture Center (@CCCSanFrancisco), J-Sei (@jseicommunity), Lavender Phoenix (@lavphoenix), Oakland Asian Cultural Center (@oaklandasiancc), SOMA Pilipinas (@somapilipinas), Visual Communications (@vcmediaorg)
