Night/Life poem written and performed by @kai_isaiah_jamal

From @FlockTogether.world’s guided walk through the cemetery to the final performance in the chapel, Night/Life was an evening spent exploring a historical part of London in a different way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to all the artists, guides, collaborators and team who helped bring it together.

Night/Life exploring @nunheadcemetery before the sun sets.

Guided by @FlockTogether.world our senses alert to the often-overlooked species and ecosystems that emerge after dark. Birds, bats, insects and organisms that shape our landscapes.

Love to everyone who shared this special evening 🦇

Our sonic exhibition at Night/Life used sound to explore the natural environment of @nunheadcemetery after dark.

With recordings of nocturnal animals, @canjecore’s compositions tuned in to the surrounding sounds of the cemetery, whilst @kai_isaiah_jamal’s spoken word explored their experience of London blurring between dusk and dawn.

@theodorblack, @bhaun____, @slimorgray.la and @kalliwashere brought their own interpretations of Night/Life to the chapel, each performing alongside a living landscape that was only just beginning to stir. There’s a lot of life happening around us that we don’t always notice.

With a focus on bringing creativity to outdoor space, we introduced Night/Life on Saturday at the historic Nunhead Cemetery.

@FlockTogether.World and @OpenAREA_ led us to a roofless Grade II listed chapel hidden within @nunheadcemetery to discover London’s natural world after dark, along with a sonic exhibition including @kai_isaiah_jamal @theodorblack @bhaun______ @slimorgray.la @kalliwashere @canjecore

Growing, shaping and rethinking materials to imagine new ways of designing products, that’s the intention for Grow Shop.

Biology as a design tool. The beginnings of a different kind of making.

Thank you to everyone who came through. More soon. by @openarea_

Instead of wasting whey, we can grow plastic from it.

Our lamp shade is grown from dairy waste, fermented into a biodegradable milk-based plastic.

The lamp base is grown from stone, using bacteria to bind aggregate into biocement at room temperature, without using a kiln, mixer or heat.

At Grow Shop, guests explored @lifefabs materials before assembling their own lamps by hand. A chance to experience biofabrication not just as research, but as a way of making. by @openarea_

What if the future of design began with growing?

Presented by @OpenAREA_ x @Lifefabs as part of @Allotment_E8, Grow Shop began with a simple intention: to reimagine the materials around us.

Hosted by @OIlie_Ranger and the LifeFabs Institute, our debut Grow Shop invited guests to explore LifeFabs latest innovations in lab-grown materials and then assemble their own piece of furniture by hand. Crafting, material exploration and new possibilities.

Tune in and grow with us. by @openarea_
