We are delighted to return to AKAA Paris this year, where we will present works by Sébastien Boko and Rachel Malaika.

At our booth, we will show Mathématicien, a new mask by Sébastien Boko. His carved wooden works bring together material, memory and language — with special symbols on this mask that correspond with the Fon language.

OpenArtExchange is pleased to invite you to the opening of Entangled, a duo-solo exhibition bringing together the work of Latifa Medjdoub (Laftmonk) and Henri Kalama, on Saturday, October 17, from 3:00 PM, in the presence of Latifa Medjdoub.

Through textile sculpture and painting, Medjdoub and Kalama explore the invisible systems of connection and interdependence that shape our emotional, social, and material worlds.

Entangled considers connection not as something fixed or harmonious, but as a living and shifting condition in which one element inevitably affects another. Like an ecosystem, these relationships can generate tension and balance, disruption and growth, vulnerability and possibility.

Across both practices, threads, fibres, colours, forms, and emotions become part of larger structures, suggesting that nothing exists entirely on its own.

Detail of ‘Migrating Forms’ (2026) by contemporary artist Sanda Amadou

Raphia, synthetic braids, wire and glue
62 x 50 x 6 cm

During his residency at OpenArtExchange, Sanda Amadou sculpted fabrics, fibers and wire into structures that exist somewhere between organism and architecture. He was inspired by the interconnectedness of ecosystems. Elements grow together, depend on one another, and evoke natural cycles of construction, decay and regeneration.

The wall sculptures are part of our current exhibition ‘Re-Formation’, where the process of transformation takes central stage.

Re-Formation
On view until 10-10-2026

Assemblage, mixed media on burned wood
128 x 46 x 20 cm

In 2023, artist Julien Degan created wooden wall sculptures during his residency at OpenArtExchange. The works are full of hidden meaning and symbolism.

Julien Degan sadly passed away earlier this year, we are happy we met such a dedicated artist as Julien and we were able to accommodate him in the gallery.

During his residency at OpenArtExchange, Marcel Kpoho reshaped industrial materials associated with weight, movement, and waste into sculptures that appear unexpectedly delicate, fluid, and alive.

We warmly invite you to the opening of Re-Formation, our duo-solo exhibition featuring Beninese artists Sanda Amadou and Marcel Kpoho, on Saturday, 29 August at 3 PM at OpenArtExchange.

Join us for drinks and bites in the presence of Sanda Amadou, who will introduce his work and artistic practice.

At the heart of Re-Formation is the process of transformation. To re-form is to reshape, to make something anew, and to reuse fragments of the past to create new beginnings. The exhibition asks: how can materials, memories and existing forms be reassembled to acquire new meanings and possibilities?

Through distinct visual languages, Amadou and Kpoho explore transformation as something both material and conceptual. Amadou draws on the interconnectedness and regenerative processes of ecosystems, while Kpoho transforms discarded tyres into sculptural forms that carry traces of movement, use and memory.

Together, their works suggest that nothing is entirely static: materials change, meanings shift, and traces of the past can be reshaped into new possibilities and futures.
