If you are based in or visiting Amsterdam, this is your privilege to check out 'Undertow',an exhibition featuring 12 leading female artists from across the world...all this at the OpenArt Exchange Gallery.

Reposted from @openartexchange For the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, we will open our doors from March 10 onwards for the special international exhibition Undertow. The undertow is usually invisible, but unmistakably present, moving its own natural way, often in a different direction from the observable upstream. Typically, female artists are less visible in the international art world, but they have always been around with their own vision and sound.

In Undertow we offer a stage to twelve female artists with diverse cultural backgrounds from the US, Mexico, South-Africa, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Austria, France, UK, Georgia and Australia, representing various generations with paintings, mixed media works, paper cuttings, photographs and sculptures in different styles and techniques. They each tell their story and reflect on the world as they experience it.

It is now possible to make the mandatory reservation of a time slot for a visit to our gallery in accordance with Corona measures, via the link in bio.

Be quick, as there are only 4 tickets available per time slot! Admission is of course free. During the opening week we provide drinks and bites during your visit to celebrate this new exhibition. Undertow can still be visited by appointment until Sunday April 18. We will keep you updated on any change in Corona measures.

Posted @withregram • @openartexchange OPEN CALL FOR FEMALE ARTISTS – PLEASE SHARE
For many reasons the art world today seems still vastly dominated by male artists. On 7/3/2021, the eve of International Women’s Day, we will open the exhibition Undertow, connecting a multi-diverse group of female artists, having them shed their light on contemporary society. The undertow may not always be visible, but is clearly sensible and powerful, providing natural direction.

Are you a promising contemporary visual artist and interested in participating in our upcoming expo Undertow? Please fill out our online application form: https://www.openartexchange.com/open-call/. For this application we need a short biography, credentials, artist statement, pictures of 7 proposed works and a motivational paragraph with why you and/or your proposed works should be selected. The application deadline is 24th of January.

We are looking for professional female artists with at least 3-5 years of exhibiting experience (preferably some international experience) with art works that are reasonably easy to transport safely at reasonable costs.

For this exhibition installations, performances, video's and digital art are excluded from the selection. We aim to select a broad range of artists from different countries, different styles and different levels of experience.

We will agree our conditions with selected artists upfront and expect to publish the final list of selected artists on 5 February 2021. We will not correspond on the reasons why artists have not been selected.
