A few weeks ago we learned the sad news of the passing of John Douglas. An incredible musician in his own right, John was not only a member of The Alan Kelly Gang but also a loving husband to Eddi Reader. Eddi and the band have decided the best way to pay tribute to John's legacy is to continue the European tour including the upcoming Belfast show.

The tour will give Eddi, The Alan Kelly Gang, and their fans a chance to celebrate John's life and work. In a post to their Facebook page The Alan Kelly Gang wrote:

"There’s no doubt these shows will be incredibly emotional without John. His absence will be deeply felt, but music was such a huge part of the life Eddi and John shared, and we feel that continuing to play, sing and share that music is what John would have wanted. These will be very special shows, with John never far from our thoughts."

Today we said goodbye to a colossus of the creative community in Bangor – award winning journalist and author, Stephen Walker. Stephen was a regular contributor to Open House Festival and the Court House, whether talking about his own books or interviewing authors like Alan Johnston. He was such a warm, funny, inquisitive spirit – always a joy to be around. He was also a consummate professional. Stephen was to have interviewed royal biographer Andrew Lownie during last month’s festival but arranged a colleague to replace him when his health was failing. We are heartbroken for his family and closest friends, and for the loss to Bangor, and will remember Stephen with great fondness and gratitude. by @openhousefestival

A little throwback to some of the sights and sounds of last year's inaugural Free Music Trail. We're back this weekend and we're bigger and better than before with more venues and more genres of music. It all kicks off this evening (Friday) and did we mention it's all free? taken in Bangor, County Down by @openhousefestival
