GOD YOU ARE GOOD!

Cleveland catch me this weekend presenting my film Dancing Roots and talking about “Nature Gap” as it relates to the systematic marginalization to green spaces at the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival! @gcuffcleveland

Overview:
Joshua White is a celebrated international dancer whose artistry bridges continents and cultures. For most of his life, White’s core influence came from his mother’s Latin and Caribbean roots. But when he was chosen to participate in a leadership development fellowship program that included an extended river trip in Utah’s remote wilderness, he discovered an entirely new connection to his dancing roots.

Special thank you to @nikhousemedia and @openroadsoutdoors for filming and producing this amazing work! taken in Cleveland, Ohio by @openroadsoutdoors

In an age where technology is heavily used, it's imperative that we continue to steward our connection with nature!

Thank you again @mountainfilm for this amazing opportunity!

It has only been a little over 50 years since the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which among other things granted permission for BIPOC communities to enter public spaces like national and state parks – spaces they had been banned from prior.

This past weekend, our film Dancing Roots premiered at Mountainfilm in Telluride — and what a special experience it was. 🤍

Directed by our Creative Adventure Director, Nikki Hausherr, Dancing Roots follows the journey of Open Roads participant Joshua White, an internationally celebrated dancer whose artistry beautifully bridges cultures and continents. Through time spent in Utah’s remote wilderness during an Open Roads trip, Joshua uncovered a deeper connection to himself, his movement, and the roots that continue to shape his story.

This film is a reminder of the power nature holds — how it can peel back the layers, reconnect us to who we are, and invite us to move, heal, and dance freely.

So grateful to everyone who poured their hearts into this project, and a special shoutout to Joshua for sharing your story and spirit with such honesty and beauty.

We are thrilled to be returning to Telluride @mountainfilm again this year with another short film that reminds us how time in nature can peel back the layers of our soul to reveal our human roots, and invite us to dance.

Dancing Roots is a film directed by our Creative Adventure Director , Nikki Hausherr (@nikhousemedia) about Open Roads participant Joshua White’s(@getyouajosh) journey of discovery. Joshua is a celebrated international dancer whose artistry bridges continents and cultures. For most of his life, Joshua’s core influence came from his mother’s Latin and Caribbean roots. But when he was chosen to participate in an Open Roads fellowship program (funded by the telos institute) that included an extended river trip in Utah’s remote wilderness, he discovered an entirely new connection to his dancing roots.

Dancing Roots Showings:

-Fri, May 22nd, 9:00 AM at Masons

-Sun, May 24th, 3:00 PM at High Camp by @openroadsoutdoors
