GOD YOU ARE GOOD!

Cleveland catch me this weekend presenting my film Dancing Roots and talking about “Nature Gap” as it relates to the systematic marginalization to green spaces at the Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival! @gcuffcleveland

Overview:
Joshua White is a celebrated international dancer whose artistry bridges continents and cultures. For most of his life, White’s core influence came from his mother’s Latin and Caribbean roots. But when he was chosen to participate in a leadership development fellowship program that included an extended river trip in Utah’s remote wilderness, he discovered an entirely new connection to his dancing roots.

Beyond Beliefs is a short documentary film I filmed back in the summer of 2025

It got picked up by various film festivals and I was able to travel across the country to speak about the film!

One of the festivals ( @mountainfilm ) was probably my favorite because the producer of the film ( @trevorbhall ) always had a dream that one his former students would be able to create a film that could show here! I was able to fulfill the dream for him!

I hope you enjoy this incredible story about a young woman overcoming her fear of water through conquering a ferocious river system over the course of a few days.

In an age where technology is heavily used, it's imperative that we continue to steward our connection with nature!

It has only been a little over 50 years since the passing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which among other things granted permission for BIPOC communities to enter public spaces like national and state parks – spaces they had been banned from prior.

This past weekend, our film Dancing Roots premiered at Mountainfilm in Telluride — and what a special experience it was. 🤍

Directed by our Creative Adventure Director, Nikki Hausherr, Dancing Roots follows the journey of Open Roads participant Joshua White, an internationally celebrated dancer whose artistry beautifully bridges cultures and continents. Through time spent in Utah’s remote wilderness during an Open Roads trip, Joshua uncovered a deeper connection to himself, his movement, and the roots that continue to shape his story.

This film is a reminder of the power nature holds — how it can peel back the layers, reconnect us to who we are, and invite us to move, heal, and dance freely.

So grateful to everyone who poured their hearts into this project, and a special shoutout to Joshua for sharing your story and spirit with such honesty and beauty.

Mountainfilm always feels less like a festival and more like a reminder. A reminder that stories still matter. That adventure can still change people. That community built around creativity, curiosity, and the outdoors is alive and well.

This weekend was full of conversations that stayed with me, films that made me think deeper, and moments that made the world feel both bigger and smaller at the same time. Feeling incredibly grateful to support @openroadsjournal film Dancing Roots from @getyouajosh and @nikhousemedia, celebrate the release of Issue 3 of our magazine, and spend time with people who genuinely believe in the power of storytelling to move culture forward.

Leaving inspired, creatively recharged, and already dreaming about what comes next.
