🤔His Dad didn’t start him at the tee box. That decision changed everything.

When @campbell_mgolf head coach Matt Moot was a young kid, he couldn’t hit it very far. So his dad made a simple choice: start him at the 100-yard marker.

Then 150. Then farther back, one step at a time. Matt got to have success before he had distance. He got to watch his scores go down, feel proud of his progress, and fall in love with the game.

Listen to how Matt talks about it today. You can hear how much he still appreciates his dad for that decision, and for helping him feel successful at a time when he easily could have felt frustrated.

Parents, you don’t have to be a golf expert to make a huge difference. Sometimes the most impactful thing you can do is put your kid in a position to succeed and let the confidence grow from there.

Most people start beginners at the tee box. They make a 10 or a 12, and very few want to come back. Matt’s dad found a better way.

Congratulations to Dubsdread Golf Learning Center in Orlando, Florida for claiming the top spot in the September Operation 36 Global Challenge with 24,800 points!

A big shoutout to Coach Steve Brewer and team, and every golfer at Dubsdread for putting in the work all month. Training, playing, and logging every bit of it in the Operation 36 app added up to the #1 spot in the world. That's what consistency looks like.

Meet Patrick. He's 10, he's an Op 36 golfer at Stamford Golf Club in Stalybridge, England, and he's currently working his way through Level 5 with coach Mark Smith. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿⁠

He filmed his own Op 36 diary, and it's the most honest thing you'll watch today:⁠

Week 1: Shot 43 and was pretty happy. His verdict: "All I need to work on is my chipping." 📝⁠
Week 2: Put in the extra putting practice, then shot 54. Not happy. Putting was good, driving wasn't, and he's working on his aim. 😤⁠
Week 3: Came off the course after playing with his mate Charlie, "really impressed" with himself... and made a BIRDIE. 🙌⁠

Arrows are flying this morning. 🏹 And honestly, these were fair ones.

A few people have pushed back on our use of total putts as a stat, and they’re right: total putts on their own can be skewed. That’s why in Op36 we use a 6/15 system:

⛳ 6 or more greens in regulation is our foundational stat.
⛳ 15 or fewer total putts is our secondary stat.

Why keep it this simple? In Phase 1 (Levels 1–5), we’re not chasing half a stroke. We’re helping beginners improve by 15 shots over nine holes, and many of them are four- and five-putting when they start. They need an answer fast, right off the scorecard, not 25 stats to sort through at home.

And when players track their own numbers, they take ownership. Instead of a coach telling them what to work on, the player comes in and says, “Coach, I had 25 putts. Can we work on putting today?” That’s when real learning starts.

For players at the highest levels, deeper stats absolutely matter. We’ve learned a ton over the years from @markbroadie, @decade_golf, @petersandersgolf, and @loustagnergolf , and we’re grateful for their time and their work.

Today’s on-course lesson at MacGregor Downs Country Club: one hole, played from 150 yards, the student’s Operation 36 yardage.

Operation 36 builds confidence by starting players close to the green and moving them back as they earn it. Today we put that progression to the test, with a clear target, a committed swing, and full trust in the process.
