This summer brought our biggest intern cohort yet across Amsterdam, Chicago and Austin.

Over ten weeks, interns moved from learning the foundations to working alongside our Tech, Trading and Research teams: building and shipping projects, trading in market simulations, desk shadowing and testing research ideas using real market data.

Outside the work, there were socials, new cities to explore, people to meet across Optiver and plenty of time to build friendships along the way.

Our US interns have spent the summer learning, working on real projects, and getting to know the people around them.

They’ve cheered on the Chicago Cubs, kayaked on Lake Travis, discovered their city through boat tours, and spent time together outside the office.

It is day two at @europython, and one of the questions we get most at the booth is whether we use AI.

We do. AI has made writing code much faster, but as code becomes cheaper to produce, building codebases that are easy to review, maintain and evolve becomes even more important.

“For the week I was there, I felt like a real intern. The teaching was high-quality, and the people were welcoming.”

Over the past few weeks, more than 250 STEM students joined us in Amsterdam, Sydney, and Chicago for FutureFocus and Career Kickstarter.

Through these educational programs, students learned how our teams work together across trading, research, and technology. They gained real insight through desk shadows, learned theory through trading games, and built code in tech labs.

Beyond the classroom, participants connected with each other and employees through networking events and group dinners.
