Three international guests ( Bryony Beynon, @_s_a_r_j_ , Felipe Neis Araujo ), sixteen local speakers ( @dr_president_maltapunks @stk__mt @sequenchill @chris_afropuff @nightlifeltd @pia_notmaria @rea.malta @mariagalea__mg @dj_hadesmalta @shawnsames @rea.malta @tina.sidelinestudios @unmute_mt @victorguell s ) and two moderators ( @ramonadepares @zeppelin.baby )

Two days of discussions, creative ideas, and networking with artists and grass-roots organisations working across music, arts, culture and entertainment.

One shared mission: reimagining a new tomorrow across Malta’s creative and night time industries.

The Malta Festival of Ideas extends its gratitude to the @goodnightoutcampaign and @oracles.prod for their unique input in transforming our events into immersive artistic and educational experiences.

This event would have not been possible without @hideout.mt , @tuff_drinks , @hole_in_the_wall_malta , @artscouncilmalta , @undergroundsound.eu and @l.a.systems .

Thank you also to @brianjames_u and Sunshine Mo ( @simoncutajar @dan.diacono.haha @adam.cuti ) for the warm and uplifting music.

We look forward to resuming the conversation in 2027 with the publication of the report: reimagining Malta’s night-time economy by 2030.

Untill then .. keep on dancing ;)

Everything’s ready for tomorrow. A Good Night Out comes to life at Hide Out, an immersive evening in the open air, built for talks, connection, and music that hits the way it should.

And when the conversations give way to the dancefloor, local legends @owenjays b2b @brianjames_u close it out with a three-hour vinyl set, carried by @l.a.systems , a handmade sound system built right here in Malta.

Great sound, great people, great ideas. See you tomorrow.

Before A Good Night Out, we gathered at Hole in the Wall for a closed day of talks, presentations, and workshops, digging into the questions shaping Malta’s events industry.

Honest conversations about where the scene is, where it’s heading, and what it takes to build a healthier, more sustainable night-time culture.

This is the groundwork behind the festival: transformation begins with an idea.

On Friday 11th September, The Festival Of Ideas ends the best way it could: with two of the artists who built Malta’s electronic scene, together on one vinyl set.

@owenjays has been a vital force in Malta’s underground for more than three decades, a DJ, producer, label owner, and promoter whose roots run from the golden era of house to the Detroit and Chicago sounds that still move through his sets. From residencies at home to the legendary Tresor and Panorama Bar in Berlin, depth has always been at the core of his selections.

@brianjames_u stepped into the scene in 1989 and never left, a name synonymous with dark, deep sound and a genuine pioneer of electronic music in Malta. Countless sets across the island and beyond, and still one of the finest techno selectors around.

Two pioneers. Vinyl only. One legendary b2b to send the night off.

Free entry, open air at @hideout.mt

A look back at the beautiful collaborative artwork curated by VDT Collective during our first anniversary celebration last March in @tigullio_complex_malta 🎨

“The Moment Of Making”

A room that gathers marks.
A surface that keeps secrets.
A collective shaped in minutes.
A memory made by many.
There are no spectators. Only hands.

Guests are invited to leave a trace.
Each contribution is small, instinctive, almost anonymous.
Together, they form a living artifact - shaping a collective memory through every presence in the room.

No one owns the work.
Everyone alters it.
