Killer Whales vs. Common Dolphin 🥊🫣😤🔥💪 | This video is of six killer whales hunting a common dolphin the moment we arrived near San Miguel Island.

They were first spotted from over a mile away as @green_buoy.tv saw the surface erupt with orcas leaping clear out of the water in pursuit of the dolphins!

By the time we launched the drone the whales had already gained full control and separated the dolphin from a large group of other common dolphins.

After the hunt the two families shared the meal. Feeding was followed by energetic maneuvers at the surface. Once the meal was finished the whales continued exploring the offshore waters of the Channel Islands before dispersing.

It was incredible to witness such an intense hunt before the whales went on their way! 🙏

Orcas smash a sea lion 👊🥊😤! This pod of killer whales took down a sea lion with some heavy hits and zero hesitation on the backside of Anacapa Island. It was a bad day to be a sea lion! 😳Afterwards - they shared a meal of sea lion sashimi and continued on their way towards San Miguel Island 🙏🦭

Orcas vs. Sunfish 🤯🥊☀️🐠🫍💪

ETP killer whales hunt sunfish with precision and teamwork - just like many other marine animals they eat in Mexico. There are many species of molas in Baja, but all of them are large and mostly cartilage - which makes them difficult to break open. The orcas force them up from deep water, then crack them open and eat the soft interior.

Watching these predations offshore is intense and @katieecheverry got quite the show for her first time seeing Eastern Tropical Pacific killer whales. Right people, right place & right time! 🫡📈⚡️🤝

ETP killer whales in perfect conditions! 🤯🙏🔥⚡️ We encountered this unknown young killer whale with heavy markings along its side cruising through perfectly glassy offshore waters. The rest of its pod was scattered across the area before it suddenly linked back up with them and the group continued traveling as a unit.

We were on a strike mission offshore searching for anything when suddenly these killer whales popped up. Nothing beats finding Mexican killer whales in blue glassy calm water with no other boats around! You never know what you are going to find offshore and that is part of what makes these encounters so special 🫡
