Friday at 5 EST and I’m honored to share that an article written by @k.a.nelson was just published on the ELLE Magazine website! A special feature spotlighting 5 designers to look out for in the Inaugural Indigenous New York Fashion Week 2025 produced by @relativeartsnyc in the East Village at @graceexhibitionspace all weekend!

I’m very humbled to be mentioned alongside my colleagues @pacha_arts , @coppercanoewoman , @josh_tafoya_ , and @korinaemmerich who are incredibly talented designers!

Thank you everyone for the ongoing love and support of Indigenous Fashion Design and Art. There is still SO MUCH more work today and TAKE BACK culture, style and identity from big fashion.

The entire concept of Original Landlords was to be exactly where it’s at right here right now. Major shout out to the amazing team, staff, volunteers and community for coming together to create the first of many INYFW extravaganzas!! SKO!!!

Posse On Broadway
@OriginalLandlords

“We came, we saw, we kicked its BUTT!” LOL, Long before the Goonies, Kainoa was a Ghostbusters fan and he likes that quote by “Venkman” aka Bill Murray. Yesterday at the airport we got through security and I said: we came, we saw, and he finished it off for me;)

We did the damn thing and now that he’s home nestled up in his room I’m just now starting to unpack. What we did wasn’t just for fun or adventure but it was also to put our name UP! My son takes pride in our last name, he loves finding spots to place RVSO and Original Landlords stickers when we travel. We’ve put them ALL OVER! It’s something I’ve handed down to him, the art of getting UP! He understands the concept and loves to see other designs when we’re out on the road.

Both Seattle and Portland have a vibrant GRAFF scene and I look forward to coming back to contribute when I’m not with my boy;) Be safe out there y’all and stay hydrated!!

Working West • Canal Convergence 2026
@OriginalLandlords

The contract is signed. The work has begun.

I’m honored to share that Original Landlords has been selected to create a new body of work for Canal Convergence 2026, presented by Scottsdale Arts.

Over the past week, I’ve been sourcing reclaimed denim, workwear, and vintage materials that will become the foundation of this collection. Every faded seam, repair, and worn edge carries a history, and together they’ll be transformed into something that speaks to the history of Arizona’s canals, labor, community, and Indigenous design.

This is more than a collection. It’s a process of reclaiming, rebuilding, and honoring the people and stories that shaped this place long before us.

Over the coming months I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes looks at sourcing, design development, and the making of the collection as it comes to life.

See you in November 2026.

Smells Like Teen Spirit (Rez Style)
@OriginalLandlords

I’ve been dreaming about this trip for years, and in just a couple days I’ll finally be taking it with my son as he celebrates his 15th birthday.

I’ve been hyping it up for weeks, trying to get him as excited as I am, but he’s been his usual nonchalant self. I don’t think it’s really going to hit him until we pull up to the airport, check our bags, and walk through security. That’s probably when the reality of it all will kick in. As a dad to a neurodivergent teenager, I know there may be some big emotions and sensory overload in those moments, but I’ll be right there beside him through every step.

I already reserved us a spot in the Sapphire Lounge before our flight. He’s probably going to think this is just how flying works. Then we’ll board and head to our seats in the main cabin, and I’m sure he’ll quickly realize otherwise. 😂

I honestly can’t put into words how excited I am to get on an airplane with my son. This has been a dream of mine for a long time.

We land in Portland Friday evening, pick up our rental car, and settle in for the night. Then Saturday through Monday we’ll make our way across the Pacific Northwest—>from Silver Falls to the Oregon Coast, through Astoria, Aberdeen, Seattle, and Camano Island—>traveling through the ancestral homelands of many Indigenous Nations, including the Kalapuya, Molalla, Siletz, Clatsop, Chinook, Chehalis, Quinault, Duwamish, Suquamish, Muckleshoot, Snohomish, Stillaguamish, Skagit, and Tulalip peoples.

This is more than a father-and-son road trip.
It’s a journey through Indigenous homelands.

We’ll be carrying Original Landlords with us, photographing the journey, meeting people along the way, and respectfully leaving behind a few stickers and other small artifacts as quiet reminders to our relatives that we passed through.

If you’re in the Pacific Northwest and you’ve been following Original Landlords, let us know. We’d love to connect while we’re out there.

See you soon, PNW. 🌲🦅 taken in Coast Salish Territory by @originallandlords

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Jeremy Arviso is a Diné (Navajo) designer and artist of Hopi, Akimel O'odham, Tohono O'odham, and Red House Clan ancestry. As the founder of RVSO78 and the fashion brand @originallandlords , Arviso reworks one of fashion's most famous logos; the Ralph Lauren Polo emblem, to ask sharp questions about the American Dream: whose land, and whose dream?

Currently on view in 'Always in Fashion', Arviso joins a groundbreaking group of contemporary Indigenous artists and designers who are blending ancestral knowledge with cutting-edge innovation to redefine fashion on their own terms. This isn't just about clothes; it’s about reclaiming cultural narratives and challenging colonial frameworks within fashion.

Don't miss this important conversation. Visit the link in our bio to plan your visit and learn more about the exhibition.

WE THE MERCILESS
@OriginalLandlords

Y’all know what time it is…. No need to flex or front, it’s ALL about timing and that time is upon US.

QUESTION everything you see and hear, educate yourself to arm your mind. Protect your spirit and nourish your bodies.

Use what they used against US to fight back….

Chicago Architecture
@originallandlords

Still amazed at how incredible this city is and how many layers and levels there are to it. I know I only scratched the surface but I did cut a little deep. So much history here and I’m not talking about the skyline!

Did you know the name Chicago comes from the Indigenous word shikaakwa, a Miami-Illinois word meaning wild onion, wild garlic, or wild leek?

Long before skyscrapers and Lake Shore Drive, this place was known by the plants that grew abundantly along its waterways. One of America’s greatest cities still carries an Indigenous name, a reminder that our stories, languages, and presence have always been here.

My sister @jesrvso and I traversed downtown and surrounding areas listening to the new album by @qwelone and @makerbeats which gave the city a soundtrack that weekend. I couldn’t help but notice the complete erasure of any Indigenous cultures and peoples that once inhabited the shores of Lake Michigan.

The land remembers. The names remember.

I’ll be back soon;)

INDIGENOUS FUTURISM
@OriginalLandlords • @nativestarboutique

I’m excited to share a few images I shot while West Coast breezin’ with the Native Star crew last weekend!

During my travels across this incredible 🌎 we call Earth, I’ve noticed a recurring theme in museums and cultural institutions around the world. Indigenous peoples of the Americas are so often portrayed as figures from the past. It’s as if history has been rewritten to erase us from the present, and don’t even get me started on the future. Have you ever seen a movie set in the future where Native people exist? I haven’t either…

That’s why I’m thankful for spaces like Native Star Boutique, which are helping bring our stories to mainstream audiences across America and beyond. We’re making noise. We’re sharing what Indigenous creatives have been building across Turtle Island through intentional design and storytelling, using fashion as our medium. We’re making sure our voices are heard and our faces are seen in a world that seems to be disappearing in more ways than one.

It takes torchbearers like @ruth.annthorn who has quite literally taken Land Back in San Diego County, the county with the highest concentration of Native American reservations in the United States, home to 18 federally recognized Tribal Nations. She’s created a space where Indigenous creatives can explore entrepreneurship, build community, and prove that this model can scale.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of stocking Original Landlords at Native Star Boutique since the beginning and was honored to participate in their inaugural Native American Heritage Month Fashion Show.

This is only the beginning. We’ve got a whole lot more to build, celebrate, and share in the near future. Stay tuned!

I’m STILL here.
@culturalsurvival

The printed copy arrived today.

A few years ago I was completely lost. Addiction, depression, and poor choices had me questioning everything. Through sobriety, culture, creativity, community, and a lot of hard work, I found my way back.

I’m honored to have my story, “I’m Still Here: An Artist’s Journey of Sobriety, Resilience, and Presence,” published in the latest issue of Cultural Survival Quarterly.

Some stories are difficult to tell. This one felt important.

I’m still here.
