The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness 💙

A hugely entertaining, tongue-in-cheek, meta take on the YA genre, The Rest of Us Just Live Here is a must read for anyone who’s gotten fed up with reading about ‘the chosen one.’ What about the rest of us? 🤷‍♂️

This book turns its eye to the ordinary high schoolers on the sidelines who wonder what kind of trouble those special “indie kids” are in now. Vampires? Zombies? Apocalypse? Mikey, his sister, his best friend, and his forever-crush are just trying to survive until graduation. But along the way, they’ll have to deal with luminescent undead deer, burgeoning godhood, unrequited love, and navigating mental illness in a world that can make you feel like a background character.

If you want humor, adventure, clever commentary, and the vivid heartbreak of senior year goodbyes, you’ve come to the right book! 💔

The stunning colors and flashy neon title of this book are enough to arrest any casual book browser. But can you judge this book by its gorgeous cover? Yes! 🧡💛💙

Malinda Lo’s Last Night at the Telegraph Club tells the story of Lily Hu, a 17 year old Chinese-American lesbian coming of age in 1954. Racism and homophobia structure the world around her, but she and her new maybe-more-than-just-a-friend Kathleen find respite in the Telegraph Club 🌈

So, are you here for the gays (especially of the historical variety)? Looking for richly detailed historical fiction? Wanting a powerful slice of 50’s Asian-American teen life? Look no further! Pick up a copy and visit the Telegraph Club today! ✨💖🏳️‍🌈
(Thanks to @popmitzvah for the original rec! and thanks to LIS 629 for a very fun youth lit class)

Forgot to post this bad boy from last weekend! Raspberry white chocolate cheesecake with homemade raspberry filing and a chocolate graham cracker crust ❤️🤍 such a big batch, it made a medium cheesecake and a bunch of lil baby ones too! Sparked the very particular feeling of sitting in a Barnes & Noble cafe, eating this 📚 by @oriley42
