Ukúsé and a few Edo women singing can literally bring down the walls of Jericho. I really enjoyed this spiritual moment with the women of the Edo Association of Minnesota’s cultural group. A lot of my dad’s songs were either direct cultural songs passed down from generations before or adaptations, and “Awanuro” is definitely one of them. This might be the closest to what “Awanuro” used to sound hundreds of years ago before it was modernized by my pops. by @oririmusic

Chicago! by @oririmusic
If my people are singing- then I will keep playing. From 1996 to 2001 I played 100s of shows with my father (OSAYOMORE Joseph) as his keyboardist all over Benin City, Nigeria. I basically absorbed the craft by being present. I cannot say I have worked hard enough to deserve to play my dad’s music for the biggest gathering of Edo people in the diaspora, but my dad’s hard work gave me this opportunity on a platter. This generation of Edo people are slowly aging out, in another 30 years, we might not have this kind of audience to enjoy this music with. So we are thankful to be in the moment and share this time together. Thank you Edo National Association worldwide. So the 24bits Sons of Edo Legends tour continues- Chicago is next Sept 12 Atlanta Sept 18th Boston Sept 19th Newyork Sept 25th And back to Minnesota for Joy Jam Sessions and Edo cultural day fund raiser with Edo Association Minnesota Oct 24th. by @oririmusic
