Every founder has a moment when something clicks.

So, this is the story behind Orli!

For us, it wasn’t one moment. It was hundreds.

Conversations with children who had big feelings but not always the words for them.

Teachers doing everything they could with too little time and too little support.

Parents trying to understand what was going on beneath the surface.

The more we listened, the more we realised something was missing.

So we started experimenting.

We ran workshops, spent time with children and watched what happened when they were given space to create, play and tell stories in their own way.

Again and again, we saw the same thing.

Children would show us emotions through characters that they couldn’t always explain.

That’s when Orli started to take shape.

Not as another lesson or worksheet, but as a playful, child-led world where children can explore their big feelings safely.

We’re so glad you’re here for the journey! by @orliverse

Today we can finally announce something huge:

@younglivesvscancer - one of the UK’s leading children’s cancer charities, has made a strategic investment into Orli.

As an A&E doctor, this feels full circle.

I’ve spent years meeting families at some of the most frightening, overwhelming and uncertain moments of their lives.

Clinical care matters.
Currently, we forget the emotional burden that comes with it.

We know that helping children prepare for healthcare impacts outcomes.

Whether they feel safe.
Whether they understand what’s happening next.
Whether they have a way to express the things they can’t always put into words, or regulate the feelings that arise.

These things matter.

Orli is built to use play, creativity and characters to help children make sense of big feelings, and to empower the adults around them.

Young Lives vs Cancer have an Innovation Lab actively partnering with a small number of innovators who are building technology that can change how young people and families experience cancer care.

They are the perfect partner for us to expand into healthcare:

- Decades of experience supporting children, young people and families
- Frontline practitioners across the UK
- A community of young people with lived experience.

What’s the biggest mistake founders make? 👀

For @drmarkcox, founder of @orliverse and our London Accelerator Pitch winner, it’s trying to build too much, too soon.

His advice? Find one thing. Get someone to pay for it. Then scale. 🚀

A lot can happen in a year.

Since winning our London Accelerator Pitch Competition, @drmarkcox has been busy growing his business and building the team behind it. Swipe to see @orliverse’s journey with us so far. ➡️

“Orli is a behavioural intelligence platform that helps kids prepare for life’s wobbly moments, through personalised companions that help them play. We turn that play into insight for the adults and relationships around that child.”

“NatWest have been incredible to us. Not only did they give us £70,000 and put on an event that I’ll never forget. What we’ve been able to do together since, I really didn’t expect.”

“‘Orlidays’ came about with NatWest inviting families in over summer. Summer creates a lot of disruption and lack of routine that can create a lot of big feelings and wobbly moments. We thought it would be a great idea to run sessions that give these feelings somewhere to go.”

“The amount of support and willingness to work with us on these ‘Orlidays’ across the UK - the buy-in from the employees, buy-in from senior executives, It’s been it’s been out of this world. We’re really excited about what’s to come next.” by @orliverse

He left medicine to build a business. His ADHD became part of his advantage.

After witnessing the mental health crisis firsthand, @drmarkcox founded @orliverse, an emotionally intelligent play brand helping children thrive.

“When I’m passionate about something, my hyperfocus goes into overdrive and I just keep going.”

Turns out, thinking differently can be an advantage. 💡 by @orliverse

Remember our London Accelerator Pitch Competition winner? 👀

This summer, he’s been taking his business @orliverse across the UK.

We partnered with founder Mark Cox to bring his vision for ‘Orlidays’ to life, helping children explore big feelings through creativity, play and imagination. 🎨✨

And what a success it’s been. 👏 We can’t wait to see where Orli goes next. by @orliverse

We’ve been touring the UK asking parents the same BIG question.

And by day 3, we started to hear the same BIG answer:

“What’s a wobbly moment from your childhood?”

The most common answer?

Something that happened at school.

An exam result.
The transition between schools.
Something another child said that stuck for thirty years.

The people answering are adults, describing feelings they’ve carried since they were seven. Their children are sitting right next to them, living their own version of it now.

It’s a pattern, and we’re excited to study it properly, with a load more families.

But if we want to help children through the wobbly moments, school looks like a good place to start.

Does this resonate with you?
Was your wobbliest moment at school?

I’d love to hear it. by @orliverse

The pressure to make summer holidays magical is real. But your kids won’t remember the perfect day out.

They’ll remember you, side by side, making something silly together.

Over the last week we’ve watched hundreds of families do exactly that across the UK.

This was from Glasgow - Day 3 of our mission to helping 1M children.

Consider this your sign to keep it simple and save it for a wobbly afternoon. by @orliverse

We are always inspired by the young creators that we meet.

Elliott is one of them.

He joined us in Belfast for our @natwest_business workshop.

He didn’t only share his experience of the workshop, he gave us the best feedback.

Our mission is to help children express themselves. To understand that all of our brains work differently.

And Elliotts’ message is one we share. That through creativity, we can harness our brains to live our best lives.

We can't wait for Elliott, and all of the other creators we meet on our tour, to help us design what comes next… by @orliverse

Summer holidays: all sunshine and rainbows... until the routines break, the feelings get big, and the wobbly moments hit.

If that’s your house right now, we feel you. Orli gives kids a playful way to handle the big feelings, so summer feels a little lighter for everyone.

Screen time and big feelings over the summer?

Welcome to Day 2 of helping 1M children navigate life’s wobbly moments.

Today we’re in Belfast.
The first ever Summer Orliday with NatWest.

And the first time we’ve shared the Orliverse.
A ‘phygital’ experience, made by kids, for kids.

The kind of screen time that actually gives something back.

See you tomorrow for day 3! by @orliverse

Day one of helping one million children navigate life’s wobbly moments.

This little guy started it, made by a student in Sunderland over a year ago.

What we learnt is that when a child makes their own character, made by kids, for kids, something opens up. Their feelings get a face, and they start to show us what they can’t always say.

So we kept going. Children have now made two thousand Orlis.

Today, we’re launching the mission properly. A UK tour with Natwest. Six cities, six events, hundreds of families.

And every family will get first access to The Orliverse.

Belfast first. Follow along for day two. taken in London, United Kingdom by @orliverse
