Story time! For most of my life, I believed carnations carried a negative aura. My beloved grandma told me so, and for years I never questioned it. I now see her belief probably wasn’t superstition but a response to her world… Growing up under Soviet rule, she watched the red carnation become the regime’s flower.
I carried that distaste into adulthood, until a shopkeeper handed a bright pink carnation to my 2-year-old and she lit up. I looked at her face, then at the flower, and the story rewrote itself. I saw its beauty, its resilience, the way it refuses to surrender long after every other bloom has gone.
Turns out the carnation’s symbolism runs far older than any regime. To the Greeks, the divine flower. In Christianity, a mother’s love. In Korea, filial devotion. The list goes on and on…
I’m grateful to finally see its truth and receive its gifts.

✨
I’ve worshiped the Sun
Not with carelessness but with great reverence,
Absorbing the rays of my original form.
Freckles decorate my face like confetti,
Arranged in constellations across my nose and cheeks,
Jubilant over each solar return.
My eyebrows have an impressive vertical leap-
I’ve raised them as high as my standards, many times over.
I’ve raised them in shock, in disbelief, in confusion…
I’ve also raised them in wonder, and in awe
Lately, mostly in awe.
Across my forehead stretch the strings
That gently strum the melody of my life.
My wicked nostril flare and icy glare
Transmuted into an amused grin and a rib flare.
Probably from years of holding my breath,
And pretending I don’t care.
No longer do I play Truth or Dare,
I now live in truth
And show how deeply I care.
My belly expanded to make room for two beautiful children-
My heart expanded to make room for three.
The last one set me both: on fire and free.
Last year I learned I was born on a Saturday.
Not sure why knowing that made me as happy as
discovering that an already cute dress has pockets.
Maybe because it’s my favorite day of the week,
And somehow that felt like a wink from the divine.
40 song-infused birthday cakes, well, probably more.
As an Aries, I like to squeeze the celebration out of every pore.
Thousands of wishes made through the breath-
On candles, on lashes on dandelions.
I knew I would live an enchanted life-
I’ve been a hopeful romantic since heaven.
No heartbreak, betrayal or abandonment
Ever made me doubt my great and inevitable love story.
My resolve was unwavering.
The reward, sweet enough to turn the bitterness of my past
Into a top-shelf cocktail that I now “cheers” my soulmate with.
4 has always been my favorite number-
At first because everyone else liked 3,13, and 21…
I wonder now if my choice was an amulet of my 4 year old self.
The gift of time added a zero to it, like a band of devotion-
Calling me home to her- heart open, nose toward the Sun.

Nudes aren’t for everyone…
😅 Most nude lip colors drain the life right out of my face so stepping up a to a medium intensity, neutral tone (one that has both warm and cool tones) seems to work better for anyone that experiences the same thing. As long as the cheeks are balanced out with color, your lips can take the pigment 🥳💃✨💋

Sometimes I would wonder if the organic food, the supplements, the yoga and meditation were making a measurable difference in my body, especially after years of chronic stress and life in fight or flight mode. I had heard about @function for a couple of years-first from @drmarkhyman and later from @hubermanlab and I’m so glad we finally signed up! Very straightforward and easy to schedule the tests, and tons of add-on labs available for an any specific health concerns.
Seeing my biological age after my lab tests was a welcomed nod of affirmation to stay the course of wellness, health and overall self care. Do it for yourself, do it for the ones you love. 💘💫✨

Moving to Mondays at 9:15am for “Hot 26” 75! 75 minutes of Bikram yoga @hotyogarepublic San Rafael! Tuesdays at 9:15am will now be Heavy Weights with @tubiedo and you better believe I will be taking her class! 💪
