To help us close out Hispanic Heritage Month, we are honored to share a special message from AOTA President Arameh Anvarizadeh, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA.

Dr. Anvarizadeh reflects on many of the themes discussed through this year’s SOMOS OT project, including equity, accessibility, representation, and the power of storytelling. She shares AOTA’s commitment to supporting the Hispanic and Latine/x community through advocacy and leadership opportunities that help advance our profession. We are grateful for her encouragement to get involved professionally and to continue working together to build a profession that reflects and serves all communities. SOMOS OT 💙

OTAC DEIOJ Committee celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month!
Latinx Heritage Month in the United States is observed annually from September 15th to October 15th. The occupational therapy workforce is about 4.5% Hispanic and Latino, according to the American Occupational Therapy Association Workforce Survey (AOTA, 2023). Join us in celebrating all our Latinx therapists and creating a culture of inclusion by learning something about a Latin culture you didn’t know before. Here are a few resources where you can learn more:

This week, OTAC Region 2 members came together for an evening of connection, conversation, and fun! 💜

Our OT practitioners and students put their visual scanning and visual motor skills to the test with Virtual OT BINGO, shared their favorite meaningful occupations, and exchanged ideas about what they’d love to see from Region 2 and OTAC in the future. ✨

Now, we’re looking forward to connecting with even more OTAC members from Regions 1–5 at the 2026 OTAC Annual Conference and 50th Birthday Celebration, November 5–8! 🎂

I’m excited to be presenting twice at this year’s @otacofca Annual Conference & Innovation Expo in Pasadena, November 5–8.

On Saturday, November 7, I’ll share practical ways to use AI ethically to support school-based OT practitioners and students:
