“Something that makes the brewing process easier is that the tap water is already where we want it to be. I've worked all over the country, in places where the water has a flavor, so we have to treat it like an ingredient. Here in Greenville, it's a non-factor because of how simple, clean, and soft the water is.”

We spoke with Mel, owner of Other Lands Brewery, which specializes in lagers, specialty coffee, kombucha, and more.

For its lagers, the brewery uses a traditional German technique called “decoction,” which involves boiling the grains. Mel says it adds warmth to the beer’s flavor, and the quality of Greenville Water’s tap water lets that flavor shine through. It’s one of the reasons he loves brewing in Greenville. by @other__lands

Salted Honey Rosemary Matcha 🥀

House made salted honey rosemary syrup, @methodicalcoffee matcha, steamed milk. Served hot.

A crowd favorite from last fall returns! Herbal rosemary, bitter matcha cut by a warm, sweet honey syrup with a slightly salty finish that begs for another sip. taken in Greenville, South Carolina by @other__lands

Apple Orchard Espresso Soda 🍎 🍊

House made apple syrup with cinnamon, brown sugar, honey, orange juice, espresso, and soda water. Served over ice. Garnished with an orange slice.

The next iteration in our seasonal espresso sodas is a bit more balanced than this past summers. The apple syrup has a deep/rich sweetness that cuts the intensely bitter espresso. It’s not a sweet drink by any means. Just smooth, pleasant, drinkable. One of our faves to date. taken in Greenville, South Carolina by @other__lands

Pumpkin Patch Latte

House made cinnamon pumpkin syrup, espresso, and milk. Served hot or ice.

In a world of choices it’s nice to have something familiar. A choice you don’t have to think too hard about. The PSL is cozy and comforting much like the fall season itself. There’s a reason it has never really gone out of style. A drink that’s flavor IS the fall season. It’s an easy choice. by @other__lands

Currently: we’re pouring a French pilsner crafted in collaboration with @other__lands — brewed with 100% Champagne malt, traditional Hallertau Mittelfrüh hops, and finished with a short aging on French oak.

We’ll also have the Otherlands team at the table with Scoundrel’s Beer Director, Kala:

Friday, 5–7 PM with Carlos, GM of Otherlands
Saturday, 12–2 PM with Mel, owner and head brewer taken in Scoundrel Gvl by @other__lands

October is here and so is another edition of Little Lands! 🎃 🍂

This month we’ve got some fun little fall crafts, a pumpkin themed scavenger hunt and we’re introducing a breakfast version of our Hungry Explorers menu. As always there will be plenty of toys, blocks, chalk etc for the kiddos to play with while mom and dad sip PSLs or oktoberfest beers or both.

Our tiny bouncy house had a hole in it and so we tossed it (it lasted longer than we thought it would tbh). So no bouncy house but it may be rainy anyway. If it does rain we’ll have the crafts inside!

Saturday. 10.3. 10a-2p. Join us for laid back relaxing vibes. Fall feels. Can’t go wrong.

🌻 Little Lands is the first Saturday of every month 10am - 2pm and is totally free. We have rotating themes with simple crafts, games, snacks & special guests. No registration or tickets, just a low key day created by parents with kiddos for parents with kiddos. by @other__lands

Fall feels are slowly rolling in. Long shadows. Smash burger still hits the same.

Two smashed beef patties, melty cheddar, house made aioli, brioche bun.

Add lettuce, tomato, pickle if you’d like. Or maybe bacon? Best served with our hand punched, twice fried fries. 🍔 ❤️ taken in Greenville, South Carolina by @other__lands

Saddle Bridge Oktoberfestbier 🐎

Our fourth year brewing this Oktoberfest style lager and it truly has never tasted better. We use a heritage variety of German pilsner malt called Barke exclusively for Saddle Bridge. Its aroma is intensely bready and adds a warming quality to the beer. Our decoction process and house lager yeast further push this beer into something comforting yet still crisp. And this year we added an additional dry hop of German Hallertau Mitterlfruh that makes the herbal hop character pop just a bit more.

Saddle Bridge represents everything we believe a beer should be. Beautiful, nuanced, delicate, balanced. It tastes like an Oktoberfest should taste. Our brewery mantra is ‘Bad beer distracts. Great beer integrates.’ Sure we can nerd out about all the little details that go into making something like this but that isn’t the goal. We want you to take a sip and be satisfied with your choice. Then carry on with whatever you’re doing.

Also you’ll notice we’re moving all packaged cans to 12oz! All new beers will release in this format with current flagships slowly switching over.

Saddle Bridge is available in cans to take home, on draft in the cafe and a few places around town. Happy Oktoberfest season! Hopefully the beer will do for you what the weather isn’t (it hot). taken in Greenville, South Carolina by @other__lands
