Cayman had a sensational Reinsurance Roundtable Breakfast in New York!

This week, Premier the Hon. André Ebanks, Parliamentary Secretary Julie Hunter and Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) CEO Cindy Scotland, OBE joined industry leaders at the CIRCA Reinsurance Roundtable Breakfast to discuss Cayman's advancements and priorities for the months ahead.

With Cayman’s application for National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) Qualified Jurisdiction Status submitted in August, the focus now turns to supporting the assessment process, evolving regulatory reforms and strengthening specialist capacity for a growing reinsurance sector.

Thank you to CIRCA for bringing Government, CIMA and industry together. Continued collaboration is central to building confidence and supporting Cayman's long-term competitiveness.

The numbers show Cayman’s fiscal position is solid, but that means little if many families don’t feel it at home.

At the 2026 Chamber of Commerce Parliamentary Luncheon on Friday, Premier André Ebanks MP challenged attendees to think generationally, not just transactionally.

For government, this means intense focus on longer term cost of living measures, particularly generating cheaper electricity, modernising how government does business and opening doors for greater Caymanian ownership and entrepreneurship. For business, it’s about shared prosperity with the community through jobs, mentoring and local investment.
With government and business pulling in the same direction, today’s success and opportunities can become a lasting legacy for the next generation of Caymanians.

Premier Ebanks thanks Chamber of Commerce President Cristina Spratt and CEO Wil Pineau for bringing together leaders from across the country for a conversation that matters today and for the future. by @otpcaymanislands

Cayman welcomed the region to our shores for CFATF's 18th Council of Ministers Meeting on 1-2 October 2026. Two days, one shared mission: keeping the Caribbean's financial system – and by extension, the world’s system – safe and sound.

Members of Parliament have supported, in principle, the proposal to establish a Cayman Islands Sovereign Wealth Fund.

The motion brought by the NCFC Government does not launch the fund yet, nor does it commit any money.

So what happens next? A working group with the relevant expertise and suitable experience will examine how the fund should be governed, funded and invested, and the rules under which money could be utliised for the benefit of the people of the Cayman Islands. After appropriate public consultation, recommendations will be presented to Caucus and Cabinet for approval, and any necessary primary legislation will to be presented to Parliament for scrutiny and debate before any fund is legally established.

As Parliamentary Secretary Julie Hunter said in support of the motion: "Save in the good years, prepare for the difficult ones, and protect the future of our people." by @otpcaymanislands

United in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

All 11 NCFC members wore pink in Parliament today in solidarity with everyone in the Cayman Islands facing breast cancer, the survivors, and the families beside them.

Early detection saves lives. October is a timely reminder to book that screening.

Premier André Ebanks delivered a keynote yesterday at the Spectrum 2026 financial services conference, highlighting how Cayman continues to earn its place as a trusted global partner through strong international relationships and by seizing opportunities to innovate as standards evolve.

"It was nice to see a wide cross section of financial services professionals in attendance from different specialties. And, of course, really nice to see a strong core of young Caymanian financial services professionals in attendance," Premier Ebanks noted.

"As the industry advances, so should new opportunities for young Caymanians. Training and sponsorship programmes run by local organisations such as Cayman Finance and FSI are opening doors for young Caymanians in law, finance, insurance and more. For example, over the past three years, 42 Caymanians have graduated from the FSI diploma programme, one of several pathways into a career in financial services."

Development and the environment are both essential to Cayman’s future. With Cayman Forward, we are taking a new approach to planning and environmental management through a reform programme driven by START (Strategic Taskforce for Action, Reform and Transformation).

Chaired by Hector Robinson KC, START will oversee delivery of the recommendations for legislative, regulatory, policy, strategic and procedural reform proposed through Cayman Forward and agreed by Cabinet. Supporting START, are two sub-committees – the Legislative Working Group chaired by Vaughan Carter and the Planning & Environment Taskforce chaired by Jennifer Ahearn.
