For those who wondered if I went to India entirely on my own — not quite. 😊

I started the trip solo, landing in Jaipur a few days early to meet my Kantha dealer Rajesh and try to shake off some genuinely horrendous jetlag.

The main part of the journey was a textile study tour through @textilesociety . Over 21 days, our group of 10 plus guides wove our way from Udaipur through Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Barmer, then crossed into Gujarat through Patan and Bhuj, ending in Ahmedabad — past colorful trucks, honking traffic, and roadways full of cows and goats the whole way.

This trip was the brainchild of artist @aikijima , who worked behind the scenes with local guides @chimandangi and @prem__fakira to connect us with every incredible artist and workshop along the way.

I ended the trip back in Jaipur with two new friends from the group, @ssr718 and @joannbitagcol — a solo start and a shared finish.

It’s @radianthall open studios month!

We are part of the Lawrenceville location which will be open to the public next Sat. Oct 17, 3-6pm. Two of our studios will be shoppable and you can see the other spaces where we cut, sort and sew everything! We also have incredible studio mates like @fragmentation @annieheisey @tealfitzpatrickfiberarts @oldflamemending @reba.harmon @smoking_joe_studio @jilljoyce @hiseancarroll @sharmistharay @terry__boyd

I’m back from India, and I’m still processing all of it.

Colorful. Full of pattern. Sometimes overwhelmingly hot, dusty, loud — and intensely beautiful. I loved every bit of it. 🧡

Before heading home from Wisconsin, I made one special stop in Racine to visit Autumn Latimore and her beautiful new shop. ❤️

With her first anniversary right around the corner, I wanted to stop in, see the space for myself, and show a little Pittsburgh love and support. And what a wonderful space she’s created!

And then, while looking around, I spotted something familiar… Otto Finn! 😊 A little piece of Pittsburgh right there in Racine.

It was so good to spend some time with Autumn, explore her shop, talk fabric and quilting, and celebrate another creative entrepreneur building something of her own.

The Ruth Kaftan Top, in silk dupioni — each collar is a vintage Kantha, so no two are exactly alike. We made one in every size, so once it’s gone, it’s gone.
