🩻 Osteopathic medicine: the study of medicine that focuses on the mind, body and spirit of the patient.

Phase II students were recently introduced to this philosophy of care, hosted by @ouhcom. Through skills sessions, students assessed gait, posture, learned about anatomy, identified body landmarks, palpate tissue abnormalities and learned about osteopathic leaders in the field.

❤️ Thank you Heritage College of Medicine for time and expertise!

On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Heritage College sponsored the game between the @ohiobobcats and Jacksonville State Gamecocks.

A group of students along with Interim Senior Dean Jennifer Gwilym, D.O., stepped on the field as the college was recognized, and students tossed T-shirts into the crowd. This appearance was part of our continuing celebration of the college’s 50th anniversary.

To top it off, the Bobcats delivered an incredible comeback victory, winning the game in the fourth overtime. taken in Peden Stadium by @ouhcom

Ohio state legislators stepped into the shoes of an osteopathic medical student Friday during D.O. for a Day at Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The immersive experience took members of the Ohio General Assembly through the D.O. journey, from convocation to commencement, all in one day, with hands-on learning in anatomy, osteopathic manipulative medicine, community health and clinical skills.

Sen. Brian M. Chavez, Sen. Tim Schaffer, Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio, Rep. Ty Moore, Rep. Jodi Salvo and Rep. Mark Sigrist also connected with Heritage College students and learned how the college is preparing Ohio’s future physicians and strengthening the state’s health care workforce.

Thank you to all who joined us for a day of learning, discovery and connection!
