👁️ Thank You for an Amazing Ophthalmology Skills Event! 👁️

A huge thank you to Dr. Lisa Borkowski and our HCOM anatomists, Dr. Jodie Foster and Dr. Elena Watson for an incredible hands-on learning experience! 🔬🪡

Our students had the opportunity to explore ocular anatomy through bull’s eye dissection, practice ocular injections, and learn essential procedural skills.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success!

Something BIG is starting. 👀🔨🏠

See a Bobcat Build stud in your campus building? Grab a marker and leave your mark. We’ve been delivering studs to partners across campus for Bobcats to add their names, artwork, and hopeful messages for the family who will one day call this house home.

The studs will become the walls of a home we build on campus, and will ultimately be moved to house a family in Ross County. 💚

And this is just the beginning — we hope you’ll join us for a campus wide service project to build the walls together, and for ongoing volunteer opportunities over the year to build the home.

🩻 Osteopathic medicine: the study of medicine that focuses on the mind, body and spirit of the patient.

Phase II students were recently introduced to this philosophy of care, hosted by @ouhcom. Through skills sessions, students assessed gait, posture, learned about anatomy, identified body landmarks, palpate tissue abnormalities and learned about osteopathic leaders in the field.

❤️ Thank you Heritage College of Medicine for time and expertise!

Ohio state legislators stepped into the shoes of an osteopathic medical student Friday during D.O. for a Day at Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The immersive experience took members of the Ohio General Assembly through the D.O. journey, from convocation to commencement, all in one day, with hands-on learning in anatomy, osteopathic manipulative medicine, community health and clinical skills.

Sen. Brian M. Chavez, Sen. Tim Schaffer, Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio, Rep. Ty Moore, Rep. Jodi Salvo and Rep. Mark Sigrist also connected with Heritage College students and learned how the college is preparing Ohio’s future physicians and strengthening the state’s health care workforce.

Thank you to all who joined us for a day of learning, discovery and connection!

Had a great time and learned a lot at Ohio University Heritage College of Medicine Doctor for a Day. The best part was meeting so many young people who’ve chosen this path of extremely hard work and lots of debt so that they can help make sure all of us are healthy. Many of them talked about the importance of the day for them as they built their advocacy skills, especially in a time where we’re facing a huge healthcare crisis given decisions made at the federal level. Thank to staff at @ouhcom and @ohiodos for creating such an impactful experience for us.
