Remember that dream you had when you were a little kid? Or maybe you had it right after you had your baby and a deep sleep was hard to catch?
You were walking in the woods. It was so beautiful. It was so calm. It felt so easy. You were right at home.
Then in the clearing you saw it: the house that had been. Was at your grandmother’s? Your favorite aunt’s? It was a deeply known house/manor/cottage from another time. You were right at home.
Remember that dream? Kind of? The feeling of it?
And there inside, on the table, no in the cellar, no buried in the back underneath the shed: you found them. Oh, the delight! They had been waiting for you. These treasures these heirlooms, this inheritance.
They had been on all the tables, or was it just that one table? The one table that held all of those important meals? They had seen it all. They had passed through so many hands, served so many, been washed by and cared for by so many. Had been treasured and traded and kept safe. They survived flood, fire and fleeing. Now they’re yours. by @ouiwon

Back on the wheel today but a little less charmed. It’s been so long, I ALMOST forgot that some days don’t go as smoothly as others. I just couldn’t throw the mugs I had in my mind. I love this part of ceramics: you gotta let go.

We need bowls so I’m back on the wheel. Feeling rusty, but excited. I sure hope these stack like Russian Nesting Dolls.
