Feeling sluggish? Try breakfast! A little nauseous every morning? Try breakfast! Anxiety? Malaise? Confusion? Try breakfast!
Breakfast: you can eat anything. Just eat something.

And fives I saw with my own eyes in Western Massachusetts last week.

Hiya! Me again. Reminding you, again, to eat breakfast. It can be as easy as left over soup or as complicated as oatmeal with a bunch of exciting spices and toppings. Just eat something. Banana w peanut butter? An apple and some cheese? Pre boil a dozen eggs? Prep a batch of congee for the week? You can do it! I believe in you.
Also- some good recent reads.

Hello Sunday morning! It’s Easter! It’s Passover! It’s Spring!
However you’re spending your morning, I hope it includes an enjoyable breakfast. I’ve had some real bangers lately myself: left over veggies w an egg (classic), sweet potato w tahini and pepitas, yogurt w fruit and seeds…and coffee. My kiddo wanted to include a pic of their breakfast from the other morning: egg, biscuit and a super ball.

Also: cool fives. One sent from as far away as Italy! Thanks!

Good morning Sunday!
A friendly reminder to eat breakfast. Something simple like a boiled egg on toast and/or leftover veggies? Or home grown greens (grown by my very own older brother in Central Virginia) with a little scramble? Starting your day with some nourishment will set you up for more regulated blood sugar and lower your cortisol.
Also- some really excellent fives. Thank you all for sending them. I love getting them.
Did you know that in Taoist cosmology the turtle shell is related to the BaGua which represents the fundamental principles of reality? Cool, huh?

Second breakfast of champions.

When first breakfast is chocolate chip pancakes with the kid at 7am, I just feel weird/bad by 11am. So here’s second breakfast: leftover roasted veggies, leftover quinoa, and some sauerkraut. If only this had been first breakfast.

Tuesday breakfast reminder: you can always have left over dinner for breakfast.
This is crispy roasted kale and delicata squash from last night. I jazzed it up by frying an egg in the middle of the squash and drizzling some of @llseto famous chili oil on top. Bam. #withcoffee #breakfast

Your friendly neighborhood acupuncturist reminding you that it’s okay to eat cake for breakfast.

The daily heartbreak of hearing people, mostly women, share their eating habits. Over my long career I have held space for so much disordered eating and beliefs about food and our bodies. Truly heartbreaking. So much self criticism and shame. Heartbreaking. The misogynistic brainwashing we’ve all ingested. The obedience we’ve performed. Heartbreaking.

May we find joy, nourishment, and pleasure in food. May we remember that our bodies, whichever shape or size or ability, are gifts to be treasured and celebrated. Let us let go of ideas that we must be small and specific. Let us let go of beliefs that we must track it all and be overwhelmed and unsure and distracted by the ever changing information.

I trust you with the responsibility of the care of your body. I trust the deep wisdom that you have about what your body needs. I trust your body. It is you.

This cake, because citrus season is my favorite: olive oil, eggs, buttermilk, almond flour, baking soda&powder, vanilla, honey and kumquats.

Breakfast inspo on this Sunday morning.
Hot sauce on top of an egg on top of mustard on top of a leftover homemade veggie burger (lentils, quinoa, onion, carrot, almond flour, spices, egg) on top of spinach. Bam.
Also- what are all the TikTok addicted people doing for dopamine this morning? Real question.
And fives! Thank you for sending me these. I love them. (One I snagged myself from @therajahpress stories.)

I have no new wisdom to share about the fires in LA, or the wars, or climate change or really anything. It’s all been said.
We just have to do what we know is right.
That applies to global and local community responsibility and to the most intimate of responsibility, self care.
We just have to do the things that we already know work. There’s no new hack. No magic pill or tincture or meal plan or fasting schedule or mantra or work around.
Most people feel their best if they eat mostly plants, drink clean water, move their bodies daily, get lots of rest and are in authentic connection with other people. All day I talk with people about blocks around self care. Breakfast can be a tough one. What to eat? Protein? Caffeine? Carbs? Should I even eat at all? (Yes.)
One of my little tricks is lunch for breakfast. Today I had extra roasted broccoli and garbanzo beans from my lunch prep so I put them on top of plain Greek yogurt and hummus and then sprinkled it all with a little zaatar. It made for a tasty, protein and fiber rich way to start my work day. Bam.
Also- fives! So many people sent me that Spirograph 5. So cool! Thanks. I love getting those little messages from you all.

Good morning from Five Pins Project, behind the scenes. Just pulling charts (yes, I still use paper charts) and blasting all the space heaters.

But NEXT Sunday, December 8th, 1-4pm, I will be highlighting my other identity: ceramic artist. I’m having a little pop-up at 491 Guerrero, SF. (In front of the office.)
Come say hi! Buy some things I made! Bring me a hot coffee? I’ll have a bunch of pieces that aren’t on the website, lower prices (because they don’t include shipping), and maybe something I baked.
