Venezuela’s oil production could rise to around 1.8 million barrels per day by 2030 as international operators expand their presence and investment begins to return to the country’s upstream sector. Norway-based independent research and energy intelligence company, Rystad Energy, assesses that most of the near-term growth is expected to come from existing fields rather than large new developments. This would make the pace of rehabilitation critical to the recovery. Click our Link In Bio to read the story Photo: Contributed Follow us: FB: www.facebook.com/our.today.news YouTube: OurToday X: Our_Today_News IG: @ our.today TikTok: @ourtodaynews #OTNews #venezuela #oil #investment #growth by @our.today

The Jamaican economy has suffered a third consecutive quarter of decline, going down by 2.9 per cent during the second quarter of the 2026/27 fiscal year (April-June 2026). This is based on the latest estimates released yesterday by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (GDP), which measures the Jamaican economy. While the debate rages on whether Jamaica is in a recession, the fact is the economy is shrinking and in need of much help. Click our Link In Bio to read the story Photo: Contributed Follow us: FB: www.facebook.com/our.today.news YouTube: OurToday X: Our_Today_News IG: @ our.today TikTok: @ourtodaynews #OTNews #jamaica #economy #decline #gdp by @our.today

Domestic violence is often treated as a private matter between two people, but that understanding needs to change. What happens inside a home does not necessarily stay inside that home. When violence becomes part of a household, its effects can reach children, relatives, neighbours, schools, workplaces, churches and communities. It is therefore not simply a family problem; it is a social problem that requires a collective response. Jamaica's experience demonstrates why the issue cannot be ignored. In 2026, the Jamaica Constabulary Force reported thousands of domestic violence cases and continued to encourage victims and witnesses to seek assistance. The police have also acknowledged that some incidents are never formally reported. This means that the cases appearing in official statistics represent only part of the problem. Click our Link In Bio to read the story Photo: Contributed Follow us: FB: www.facebook.com/our.today.news YouTube: OurToday X: Our_Today_News IG: @ our.today TikTok: @ourtodaynews #OTHaveYourSay #domesticviolence #awareness #jamaica #change by @our.today

The increasing number of job advertisements appearing in newspapers and across online platforms, particularly for positions in the public sector, raises an important question about Jamaica’s labour market: why do so many vacancies continue to emerge? There is no single explanation. Compensation, working conditions, opportunities for professional growth, migration, employee expectations and organisational culture can all influence recruitment and retention. These factors deserve serious consideration from employers and policymakers. However, there is another aspect of the employment conversation that receives less attention: whether individuals are entering professions with a clear understanding of the professional identity they want to develop. Click our Link In Bio to read the story Photo: Contributed Follow us: FB: www.facebook.com/our.today.news YouTube: OurToday X: Our_Today_News IG: @ our.today TikTok: @ourtodaynews #OTHaveYourSay #professional #growth #identity #brand by @our.today

Noel Reid has spent 19 years working on the land, long enough to know that farming is as much about resilience as it is about rainfall. The Clarendon farmer began his agricultural journey during the days of the Monymusk Sugar Factory, cultivating as much as four acres at a time. However, while he loved farming, access to water was always a challenge. There was a time when keeping his crops alive meant taking matters into his own hands. Reid had to use a gas-powered pump to draw water from the river to irrigate his fields, a costly exercise that, at its peak, was eating away as much as $50,000 from his monthly farming expenses. Click our Link In Bio to read the story Photo: Contributed Follow us: FB: www.facebook.com/our.today.news YouTube: OurToday X: Our_Today_News IG: @ our.today TikTok: @ourtodaynews #OTLife #jamaica #farmers #expenses #agriculture by @our.today

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) increased the policy rate by 50 basis points to 6.0 per cent per year, effective 29 September. The Committee judged that temporary supply shocks have persisted and begun to generate second-round effects, requiring a stronger monetary policy response to safeguard price stability. As noted in the press release, the Committee held the policy rate at 5.50 per cent in August because inflation was driven primarily by temporary external and administrative factors. That assessment was appropriate at the time. Since then, persistently elevated energy and transport costs, sustained agricultural inflation and increased import demand associated with post-hurricane rebuilding have extended inflation beyond the horizon of a typical supply disturbance. Click our Link In Bio to read the story Photo: Contributed Follow us: FB: www.facebook.com/our.today.news YouTube: OurToday X: Our_Today_News IG: @ our.today TikTok: @ourtodaynews #OTNews #governor #policyrate #boj #jamaica by @our.today
