The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Grateful every day for this life together.
(shared with our daughter’s permission) by @ourhavenhuis

✨12 FUN FACTS (a peek behind the scenes of life together)✨

1. We met in a house of prayer in southern Oregon in 2011 + married in a house of prayer in northwest Iowa in 2012. Our relationship was encouraged by a mutual friend + we resisted the chemistry between us for about 2 months before seeing she was right and God was in it.

2. We both love to laugh til we cry + be silly gooses.

3. He grew up in the South Bay of LA, she grew up in rural NW Iowa on a farm. Both public schooled children of teachers, now homeschooling our children.

4. Chandler uses social media + her phone more (in moderation) and Raoul hardly ever uses either. He got his first cell phone in 2011 at age 28, Chandler had one since she started driving at 15.

5. We both love to sing + make music. Raoul plays guitar, Chandler plays guitar + piano. We love songwriting.

6. Raoul can small talk about the weather with anyone, Chandler prefers to go straight to asking about generational trauma + theology.

7. He is the chef + she is the sous-chef.

8. He golfs and snowboards, she writes and takes photos.

9. Chandler is the visionary, constantly looking ahead & seeing what could be, Raoul is in the moment & receives dreams from God when he sleeps.

10. We are parceling off our acreage in OK with the house and hoping to buy an acreage outside of DFW.

11. We just completed a 2.5 month family mission trip exalting Jesus in Europe. 8 countries traveling by car, train, plane & ferry.

12. Raoul has a masters in Art Education but serves the public as a Fascial Specialist, God called Chandler to ministry after high school + she is Director of Operations at FC.

BONUS: We have lived in Oregon, Iowa, Colorado, Missouri, Mexico, Northern California, Oklahoma & Texas and moved over 13 times in our marriage.

Love has a sound, and it is my sister’s laugh.

Love has hands, and they braid my hair on the bathroom floor and steal the rings off my fingers and wear them like they are hers.

Love has a face, and I have watched it change beside mine in every photograph since we were children.
Love has feet, and I’d know the sound they make, even it l am cities away.

Love has eyes, and they look just like mine, with a slight difference in shade.

Love has eyes, and they have watched me become every person I’ve ever been without asking me to remain any of them.

Love is intrusive.
It steals my clothes, drinks from my water, calls me for no real reason at all, sometimes just to say it’s taking out the trash or brushing its teeth.

I spent my whole life wondering what love was supposed to feel like, as if it were some invasive thing I had not yet had the chance to experience.

But love has always been in the other room, sleeping in the bedroom beside mine since I was two.

It was her laugh, her hands, her face. So I think I was wrong in spending so much of my life waiting for love to find me, because it already had.

I just called her my sister.

Am I the only millennial mom who prefers texts? 😅 Why do most phone calls feel like being sent to the principal’s office to my nervous system?

Also this song is my new fav on @songbirdabbie’s @haveyoueverlookedaround album. 💿 🎵📻 by @ourhavenhuis

Have you ever been surprised by what you found while traveling? What astonished you the most and where?

Spent some time at the fjords last year at this time and this memory tickled my funny bone. Tipping our hats to this rv in Norway! 🤠🇳🇴 by @ourhavenhuis

Unsure how it’s possible for the thrill I felt watching their first little slide rides to somehow still exist as I watch them soar down the biggest slides they’ve ever been on.

Different moment. Same joy, multiplied.

Maybe that’s the gift of motherhood. Their joy multiplies mine.

I’m leaning into every second because time is flying as fast as they are off these slides. 🛝 by @ourhavenhuis

Reasons 43 might be your best year yet…

Not because life will be easier.
But because you keep choosing growth:
growing into even deeper integrity
growing in humility as strength
willing to laugh at yourself
willing to let faith lead when certainty can’t
willing to trust Jesus more tomorrow than you do today
many people stop growing,
you keep saying yes to it.
I think that’s what will make this your best year yet.

Happy [[super belated]] 43rd, Raoul. If you love him, let him know why below 👇🏽

(Made this reel in late June for his bday and it glitched everytime I tried to post it. If you’re seeing this, it finally went thru, better late than never!! 🎉🎂) by @ourhavenhuis

Agree or disagree: Do you think the cost of not doing life inside community is higher?!

We lived in a very isolating season prior to moving to Texas in 2023 and while you CAN heal to a certain extent in isolation (think of ICU) even then people will long for people to do life with. God told us it was time to get into intentional community after a necessary but isolating “ICU stay.”

As an introvert writing this, the families we do life with currently are such a healing balm to my heart these days. Being known and knowing each other in all our imperfection is irreplaceable. If you want a village, be willing to be a villager.

Are you grateful for the “cost” of community?👇🏽 by @ourhavenhuis

Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. 😂🙈 Friends just don’t let friends live with a lifetime of pent up fascial tension.
