Welcome to OurLittleFood — we’re Kayla & Chris! It’s been a while since we introduced ourselves and a lot has changed since then 🤍We met freshman year of college in Seattle and got married last August in Yorkshire, England! We started this account a few years ago when we were both living in Baltimore, and since then we’ve lived together (and long distance!) in NYC and Boston. Now we’re finally living together full-time in Chicago!Kayla is a student at Northwestern, pursuing her PhD in Neuroscience. She loves all things sweet and is a sucker for a pretty cocktail!Chris is an attorney and a fan of all things sweet and salty, with a special emphasis on soft pretzels!We can’t wait to share all the fun things to do and eat in Chicago with you. Chicago, Takumi Ramen in Pilsen absolutely delivers delicious ramen and Japanese dishes that everyone can enjoy!We had to taste just about everything on the menu, which included ordering their Chicken Karaage (because Chris is a fiend), their Yakitori Platter (with grilled, tender, juicy, steak, chicken and pork), the vegetable okonomiyaki, a savory Japanese pancake that definitely hits the spot.For entrees we got the Tonkatsu Don, with their perfectly crispy pork cutlet, and the star of the show, the Takumi Tonkatsu Ramen, which was packed with out of this world umami flavors!And, don’t forget they’re serving up delicious Uni Uni boba! #hosted #chicagofoodie #chicagofood by @ourlittlefood

Veni, Vidi, Vici Tre Dita! We fell in love with Tre Dita the moment we walked through the doors of the dining room. Huge glass windows, a rotating open flame grill, and beautiful seating.We opened the meal with the Polpette Di Bresato, braised short rib meatballs that absolutely melt in your mouth. For entrees we had the Linguine Al Limone, which is the perfect dish for a hot summer day like this week! We also had the Tagliata Di Manzo, a juicy, tender ribeye cap steak that was cooked to absolute perfection. It was certainly one of our favorite steaks of all time.Tre Dita might host a heavy price tag, but everything we had was definitely worth while and we will surely be coming back!#chicagofood #visitchicago #chicagofoodie by @ourlittlefood

Chicago, if you haven’t been since they’ve opened their new locations, Milly’s Pizza in the Pan is just as fantastic as ever! We honestly were unsure that everything would remain just as amazing as before, but they certainly delivered!We went back this past weekend and had the classic Only Pans, with pepperonis, peppadew peppers and dollops of ricotta. Let us just say, we have had this one every time we’ve come to Milly’s and it is always such a delightful pie! We also had Tom’s Killing for the first time, a vodka sauce pizza, that definitely adds a unique taste to their delicious pan pizzas. We’ve waited far too long for our return to hot pot, and boy did we make a mistake in doing so. Liuyishou Hot Pot in China Town is an absolute must for those that love delicious meats and getting to cook it all right in front of you!We started with their amazing premium wagyu, as part of the all you can’t eat package, and instantly fell in love with the tenderness of each bite! We also had their lamb, chicken, marinated beef, and so much more. And don’t forget to make your own special sauce at their sauce bar; for those that like it sweeter, our secret sauce was oyster sauce, garlic, green onion and soy sauce!Don’t wait and miss out on this fire AYCE Wagyu hotpot at Liuyishou Hot Pot!#ad #chicagofood #chicagofoodie by @ourlittlefood

We spent Fri-yay at Gangnam Market in River West for some good bites and an amazing Asian grocer!For food, we had the chicken karaage pizza, absolute gas, and the spicy pork tacos, a delicious Mexican-Asian fusion! And, for dessert, we took a stroll through the seemingly endless aisles of ramen, international chips, baked goods, and soju, until we came to our final stop, the ice cream aisle. It was there we got the viral Soccer Ball icecream and Chicken Sandwhich icecream, a butter flavored ice cream chicken patty, which was absolutely divine. Akiro in River North is one of those sushi spots you’ll forever tell people about. Sitting right up at the bar to one of their four hand roll bars, you will get to experience the true precision and perfection that comes along with their delicious hand rolls and nigiri.We came and tried just about every option on the menu, and believe us when we say there was not a single bad bite! Our favorites were the tuna nigiri, a dish that sounds so simple, but that’s is delivered with startling perfection. We also loved the Acevichado and the Octopus Anticucho, two hand rolls absolutely packed with tuna octopus respectively, and filled to the brim with flavors of Japan and Peru. And, don’t miss out on their Matcha Tres Leches cake.
