Results for America’s new book, Do What Works: Smarter Government, Better Results, features two AAMA mayors sharing how data-driven leadership and proven solutions can improve lives in their communities!

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin and Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols are among more than two dozen national leaders contributing to the book, which explores how governments can deliver measurable results and strengthen public trust.

Mayor Woodfin highlights Birmingham’s investment in an early childhood literacy program that tripled the likelihood of participating children being ready for kindergarten. Mayor Nichols joins former Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum to share how data-driven leadership and cross-administration collaboration are helping Tulsa address longstanding challenges and expand economic opportunity.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, Mayor Woodfin will join New York Times Editor at Large David Shipley for a conversation about leadership, innovation and community impact at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center in Washington, D.C.

AAMA is proud to see our mayors contributing to a national conversation about what works in government and how cities can turn effective policies into meaningful progress for the people they serve. by @ourmayors

Our mayors are making moves.

In New Rochelle, Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert is working to better connect residents to their city and its future.

Mayor Ramos-Herbert helped secure an additional $16 million for the LINC, a 1.9-mile linear park that will reconnect the historic Lincoln Avenue community to downtown, expand access to green space and create new economic opportunities.

New Rochelle has also launched Westchester County’s first participatory budgeting program, giving residents a direct voice in how $200,000 is invested in their community.

Together, these initiatives are connecting neighborhoods to opportunity and residents to the decisions shaping where they live. by @ourmayors

A salute to our mayors and partners who highlighted the importance and power of Black municipal leadership during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference week!

Thank you to AAMA President and Baltimore Mayor Brandon M.Scott and Mayors Dr. Dorcey L. Applyrs, Van R. Johnson II, Quinton Lucas, Eddie Melton, Monroe Nichols IV, Steven L. Reed, Derrick Wood, Randall Woodfin and Paul Young for bringing their cities’ experiences and residents’ priorities to conversations about economic power, housing, community health, tourism, energy affordability and responsible development.

We also thank Corporate Business Council members Environmental Defense Fund, Ohio River South, Black Economic Alliance, Dream.Org, and partners, the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals, Southern Poverty Law Center, CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, and Harness Our Power hosts Mariko Bennett and Alethia Jackson, for convening leaders and elevating mayors’ voices.

And congratulations to Mayors Andre Dickens, Garnett L. Johnson and Kelly Porter and CEO Phyllis Dickerson on their leadership honors.

Mayors bring more than a seat at the table. They bring firsthand knowledge of what communities need and the responsibility to turn ideas into results. Their voices are essential to ensuring that national conversations lead to meaningful progress at home. by @ourmayors

Our mayors are making moves.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is expanding pathways to safe, affordable housing-- two new 100% affordable housing developments in Koreatown, bringing 99 new homes to one of Los Angeles’ most renter-dense communities. The developments include 19 homes for veterans created through the transformation of a former Craftsman house and a new 80-unit community for Angelenos.

The progress builds on Mayor Bass’ broader housing strategy, including the House Our Vets initiative, which has helped more than 1,000 veterans and their families secure permanent housing.

Mayor Bass is showing how cities can pair faster housing development with targeted solutions for residents who need them most. by @ourmayors
