There is no Early Years sector without educators and managers.

With just one week to go until Budget 2027, SIPTU, the Early Years Union, is calling on Government to properly value the professionals who educate and care for our youngest children.

We are calling for:

📌 €130 million in ring-fenced funding for Early Years pay
📌 Professional pay scales that recognise experience and qualifications
📌 An extension of the Access and Inclusion Model (AIM) to children under three
Early Years professionals deserve to be recognised, respected and properly rewarded for the essential work they do every day.

It’s time for Government to listen to educators and managers.

👉 Sign our Budget 2027 petition today. Link in bio.

It takes just one minute and please share it with your colleagues.

Growing the Union and Improving the Deal ✊

Day one of our TEAC biennial delegate conference in Athlone is done. Delegates debated left unity, AI in the workplace and statutory redundancy.

On redundancy, the message was blunt: a minimum wage worker who loses their job could next year get less than two weeks’ pay under the statutory rate. That’s farcical, and it’s not good enough.

Tomorrow brings group discussions, guest speakers and big debates on collective bargaining and the construction sector.

Union conferences are where democracy lives. Our delegates are the lifeblood of this union, and they’re out front supporting workers. by @oursiptu

SIPTU condemns Government abandonment of Living Wage target #Budget2027

“It is hypocritical in the extreme to talk about a workers’ budget, making work pay and providing support for workers who get up early in the morning, while at the same time removing the road-map to achieve these goals for the lowest paid in the economy.”

#Budget2027: “A chaotic budget providing little relief for workers”

Today our General Secretary John King described Budget 2027 as a “chaotic budget providing little relief for workers” and not the “workers’ budget” promised by Minister for Finance Simon Harris.

Workers are still facing a high cost of living, rising household costs and pressure on essential public services.

Workers needed a budget that tackled the causes of high living costs not one that simply subsidises them. taken in Liberty Hall by @oursiptu

#Budget2027

Chaotic with little relief for workers.

SIPTU General Secretary John King has described Budget 2027 as a “chaotic budget providing little relief for workers”.

The Government promised a workers’ budget.

Instead, workers still face:

💶 Sky high cost of living
🚍 Rising public transport fares
🏠 Unaffordable housing
🏥 Pressure on public services
🗂️ Tax breaks for capital and high-end investment

Meanwhile, the Government is becoming increasingly dependent on volatile corporation tax receipts from a small number of multinationals.

Workers need real solutions to the cost-of-living crisis not temporary subsidies and tax giveaways.
