Yesterday, the Dáil debated our Waste Management Bill which would transform our dysfunctional waste management system.

I was delighted to welcome so many residents from Dublin Central in for the debate and to be joined by colleagues in the trade union movement who have been campaigning on this issue for many years.

I am extremely disappointed that the Government has said they will oppose the Bill. It appears they have ruled out any move toward a single operator system.

We need a single waste operator per local authority area and a landlord duty to ensure they have a waste collection service set up for their properties.

Our bill is the starting point of bringing back accountability and local authority control over our waste management system. We will keep pushing for this.

Ireland’s Early Years system is a “leaky bucket” where increased public investment fails to fully translate
into lower parental fees, increased capacity, or professional wages.

Only a fundamental reform of State investment can fix these structural pitfalls.

By directly funding wages, the State can finally fix the ‘leaky bucket’ and deliver an affordable, high quality Early
Years system that operates as a true public good.

I am very happy to have hosted the SIPTU Early Years Union for the launch of their Roadmap to Affordability in Early years. Supporting workers and providing quality childcare is at the heart of this proposal and I look forward to working on this issue further.

Delighted to share that my latest article has been published as a four-page feature in the Summer 2026 edition of Sound Post, the official publication of the Musicians’ Union of Ireland.

The article explores one of the biggest challenges facing independent artists today. Understanding how royalties actually work.

Every year, musicians lose income simply because the system is complex, fragmented and poorly understood. From mechanical and performance royalties to neighbouring rights and publishing, I wanted to create a practical guide that helps artists understand where the money comes from, what they’re entitled to, and how to avoid leaving income unclaimed.

A huge thank you to David Agnew, Honorary Editor of Sound Post, for the invitation to contribute, and to the Musicians’ Union of Ireland for giving space to a conversation that is becoming more important than ever.

Education is one of the most powerful ways we can build a fairer, more sustainable music industry.

To @stephane_sejourne and Europe's political leaders: we want every worker to be covered by a collective agreement.

That's why essential workers – cleaners, security guards, food service workers – took to the streets in Paris and Dublin yesterday.
