The WA Parks Foundation is delighted to partner with Kings Park and Botanic Gardens on the release of the new plant - Eremophila nivea ‘Pink Pearl’ 🌸 Our Chair, Hon Kerry Sanderson AC CVO, was pleased to join Minister for the Environment, Hon Matthew Swinbourn MLC and Kings Park Senior Plant Breeder, Digby Growns to celebrate our shared commitment to Western Australia’s native flora and conservation. The Silky Emu Bush (Eremophila nivea) is listed as a Critically Endangered threatened species under WA’s Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, facing a high risk of extinction in the wild in the short term. Usually the species displays a bright purple flower, however the new cultivar, Eremophila nivea ‘Pink Pearl’ will bloom in pastel pink. This plant release not only conserves the at-risk species, but also its genetic diversity. Read more here, link in bio 👉 📷 Minister for the Environment, Hon Matthew Swinbourn MLC; Kings Park Senior Plant Breeder, Digby Growns; and WA Parks Foundation Chair, Hon Kerry Sanderson AC CVO with Eremophila 'Pink Pearl'. Pilbara community comes together through art for Spring into Parks Children, families and community members in Port Hedland have celebrated the Pilbara’s plants, animals, culture and landscapes through a collaborative artwork at Scribblers on the Road Pilbara. As part of the WA Parks Foundation’s Spring into Parks campaign, festival-goers joined Kariyarra Elder and Spinifex Hill Studio artist Raylene Button to create a large-scale community artwork inspired by the Pilbara’s natural environment. The artwork, titled Puntaru, meaning baby emus, celebrates an animal prolific across the Pilbara and reflects the region’s rich connection between people, culture and Country. Inspired by the Spring into Parks theme Ways to Be Wild, the activity encouraged participants to explore their connection to the natural environment and learn more about the native plants and animals that make the Pilbara unique. This free Spring into Parks event is a WA Parks initiative, supported by Lotterywest. Image: Scribblers on the Road Pilbara. 2026.
