Greenland Fall 2026 🇬🇱 Eastern Icefall

Days 1-7 on our 32 day @ousland.colliard Greenland Ice Sheet East to West Traverse were spent climbing up the eastern icefall.

After landing by boat, we hauled our equipment onto the ice and established our first camp. The days that followed were a slow, technical ascent through a maze of crevasses, uneven glacial terrain and meltwater rivers, gradually gaining altitude until we finally reached the snowline and could switch to ski’s.

We soon settled into a routine that would carry us through the rest of the expedition. Each day, we worked towards our goal for 10 hours, alternating 50 minutes of movement with 10 minutes of rest. We aimed to maintain this rhythm throughout, although the occasional unexpected challenge; including an abseil into a crevasse to recover a lost fuel bottle, would disrupt our schedule.

Our nights in the Eastern Icefall were spent taking turns on polar bear watch, each standing a two-hour shift. For some, this meant keeping guard in the darkness; for others, it offered the chance to watch the Northern Lights illuminate the Greenlandic sky.

There is a Norwegian rule for polar expeditions that goes «80% of the work should be done prior to the expedition».

The better preparations the better the expedition, and you are more likely to make it safe, healthy and happy!

The team «Lanka Last Latitude» visited us in Oslo last week, tracing for their upcoming expedition to the South Pole. 🤩

Later this year they will be joining us on a degree expedition with @vincentcolliard as a guide.

We had a fun and educational week tracing and practicing skiing, pulling and getting to know our equipment and each other.

We are looking forward to this expedition and wish you the best luck!

Also a huge thanks to @snooslo and @hklabben for letting us play and exercise! ☃️ by @ousland.colliard

We spend this weekend training and practicing techniques for avalanche and glacier rescue, all in one course, and a few days on Hardangerjøkulen. 🧊

This is super relevant training for expeditions like crossing Greenland, Vatnajökull or different kins of adventures on Svalbard! 🤩

4 amazing days in the fall mountains in Norway! 🙌

Our preparations for the South Pole last degree expedition, departing in December this year, are well underway!

We were warmly welcomed at @snooslo , just outside Oslo, for Day 2 of our polar expedition training. The focus was on developing and refining our skiing techniques and building confidence on the skis.

Every training session is an important step towards the ultimate goal: reaching the South Pole through teamwork and determination!

One step, one ski stride, and one day at a time — the adventure is getting closer!

Meet the @ousland.colliard team, starting with founder and legend @borgeousland

Børge’s contribution to polar history is difficult to fully grasp. His achievements span solo expeditions, pioneering routes, and ambitious team ventures. Yet, behind every record lies not recklessness, but rigorous preparation, broad experience, and uncompromising standards—both for himself and those he chooses to bring along. His success is measured not only in firsts, but in the fact that he is still here to tell the stories!
