There are apps for dating and sex — but what if you just want to make some friends?

Well, that’s what Cody Bumbarger’s app Outclose (formerly Gayborhood) is for. Launched in October 2025, Outclose focuses purely on friendship. After taking a personality quiz, you’re set up on a dinner date with three other queer strangers at a restaurant in your city. And really, that’s it. “We eliminate the social anxiety of ‘What are we doing here?’ and replace it with immediate, meaningful common ground,” says Bumbarger.
