I recently learned about the idea of exposure therapy while watching Dating on the Spectrum, and it got me thinking…

What if we treated making new friends the same way?

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been using @outclose.lgbt to meet people for coffee. Total strangers who were simply looking to make genuine, meaningful connections.

I’ve always loved meeting new people, but what surprised me was how many others were looking for the exact same thing: good conversation, shared experiences, and a little more community.

We spend so much time saying it’s hard to make friends as adults, but maybe we just need more spaces that make it easier to say hello.

If you’ve been wanting to meet new people, this is your sign. Step outside your routine. Grab a coffee with someone new. Join that group. Say yes to the invitation.

You never know who you’ll meet or how one conversation might change your week.

From meeting in October, getting married, to the birth of our son — this season has always held a special place in our hearts. 🍂🎃

Creating a space where fall never ends just felt right. October Cafe is so much more than a cafe to us — it’s a place for community, comfort, and a safe space for everyone who walks through our doors.
