The evening when I hung these was so peaceful, I didn’t want to leave. To put things in perspective, it was a Thursday after a hectic week trying to finish these hand-folded giant origami pieces. I also had a craft fair the next day to pack for, so I wasn’t done yet, but this pause was a perfect moment.

The thing I love about installation art is that it meets each person who experiences it in the moment they are in, even the artist. The artist can try to influence how people will interact with their art, but there is ultimately no control. Much different than hanging a painting on a gallery wall.

In this case, things were hung low enough for people to touch, so I knew things could get bent or torn. All part on the installation. It was quite windy that night, so there was a possibility things would fly away. Part of the installation.

After I picked everything up a week later (only the ends of some of the leaves were frayed), the balls got a short second life hanging on my porch and at the Obon Festival. Actually, one of my failed attempts at an origami crane was gifted to a young boy there, so the project lived on in a small way.

I hope everyone who attended Outer Roominations enjoyed my art. I hope your cup was filled by the setting and all the art, as it was for me! If you don’t hear about the event in time, keep an eye out for next year. It’s so special!

So glad I chose my beloved #ektar film for @outer.roominations . The warm, vivid colors and fine grain make my heart sing. I absolutely loved my time at this whimsical art festival and feel grateful to have captured some free-spirits in their element ^^ . If you see anyone you know, please tag them in the comments! :)

I’m alive! Delighted to share that one of my all-time favorite events is finally here! I’ll be debuting my art this weekend (Aug 1-2) at @outer.roominations, an art & music festival out in Table Bluff (Humboldt, CA), along with many talented friends. Come enjoy ocean views, goats, & art trails! (No sneak peeks of my art yet, as I’m frantically huffing paint to complete it!) by @outer.roominations

Thanks to everyone who came and shared in the sweet sweet affirmations and refreshments with one another at my RNRBR @outer.roominations last weekend. My soul is filled from the abundance of art, sunshine, and sweetness we all had. Putting on this event every year is a labor of love but the curation of spaces purposed for kindness and community always makes it worth it 💕🍉 by @outer.roominations
