• SHORTLISTED - Fit Out Awards 2026 • We are delighted to announce that Outset Gallery's "The Space Between" has been shortlisted for the Fit Out Awards 2026. The Space Between transformed Outset Gallery into an immersive experience where art, architecture and design converge. Created by Luke Reidy, co-director of Outset Gallery with Helena McElmeel Architects, interconnected environments blend paintings, screenprints and spatial design, inviting visitors to explore relationships between structure, colour and perception in contemporary interior living and gallery spaces alike. To be recognized for the Excellence in Design Collaboration Award is such a privilege and we couldn't have done it without the hard work, dedication and incredible minds behind the project. • 2 DAYS LEFT TO APPLY • The deadline is fast approaching. Have you applied yet? Outset Gallery is delighted to announce the return of the Outset Xmas Open (OXO) for its fifth edition, opening this November. OXO 2026 will also be the first edition presented in Outset Gallery’s newly redesigned exhibition space, providing a new setting for one of our largest and most diverse presentations of contemporary art. Following our largest edition to date in 2025; featuring 150+ works by 130+ artists, selected from more than 950 individual artworks, we’re making the fifth edition our most ambitious yet. To mark five editions, we’re expanding the programme of awards, prizes and artist opportunities, with more substantial opportunities for selected artists through dedicated exhibitions and showcases, partnerships and professional development. Running annually from November through January, OXO has grown into one of Outset Gallery’s largest exhibitions, bringing together emerging and established artists from across Ireland and beyond. Its extended run provides participating artists with a significant platform to present and sell work, reach new audiences and collectors, and access opportunities that extend beyond the exhibition itself. We’re also developing an expanded opening night to bring artists, audiences and collectors together to celebrate the launch of OXO 2026. CULTURE NIGHT RECAP 🎵 For one special late-night event, the iconic Cornstore Mall was re-imagined into a live music venue, with a brilliant line-up curated by Genuine Irish and complimentary refreshments generously provided by our sponsors. Despite the weather, the night was packed, bringing together music lovers and an exciting mix of emerging artists for a snapshot of some of the new music being made across Ireland right now. We opened with a beautiful acoustic set from @cruelsisterr, followed by the hardcore sounds of @motherofpearl.lk, before Galway musicians @la11ee and @nialltarmeymusic brought the night to a close. A huge thank you to our generous sponsors @hennessy, @ri.ra.beer, @drinkallabout and @kinnegar for keeping everyone refreshed throughout the evening. And, of course, a massive thank you to our extended production team, incredible musicians, sponsors, partners and friends. We couldn’t have made it happen without you. • OXO - VOL 5 • Only 3 days left to apply! We will be awarding artists with prizes generously donated by our sponsors. Awards will range from cash prizes to solo exhibitions and individual showcases for emerging artists in partner venues across the city. We’re thrilled to welcome Evans Art Supplies as a new sponsor this year, generously offering one winning artist a voucher to spend in store. We’re also delighted to welcome back The Stop Exhibition Award, giving one artist the opportunity to curate and realise a solo exhibition at The Stop, following last year’s successful award won by Yoko Akino. The Lane Studios will also be returning for a second year, offering one artist the opportunity to collaborate on a limited-edition print release. Outset Xmas Open returns this year from November 6th. • THANK YOU • The team at Outset would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who attended 'The Space Between' by Luke Reidy. The last day to view this show will be this Friday 18th September, closing alongside our Culture Night event. The Space Between, launched as part of the Galway International Arts Festival, saw the transformation of Outset Gallery into a fully immersive interior experience where art, architecture, and design converge. Developed by painter and printmaker @lukereidyy in collaboration with @helenamcelmeelarchitects the exhibition reimagined how contemporary interiors can be experienced, pushing the boundaries of colour, form, and spatial design. Rather than a single space, the exhibition unfolded across a series of interconnected environments, rooms, thresholds, and transitional spaces each shaped by Reidy’s abstract visual language. Architectural elements and surfaces work in dialogue with a new body of paintings and screenprints, blurring the line between artwork and inhabitable space. The response to this show was more than we could have imagined, and would not have been possible without our extended production team, sponsors, and friends for all their time and support. THIS FRIDAY. The final countdown is on for Culture Night. Outset will be transforming Galway’s iconic Cornstore Mall into the backdrop for a special evening of live music curated by Genuine Irish. We are thrilled to announce our final line up of incredible artists, spanning genres and offering a snapshot of some of the exciting new music being made across Ireland right now. FIRST ACT - 20:15 @cruelsisterr A self-produced force in the new wave of shoegaze, noise, and alt-rock. SECOND ACT - 21:15 @motherofpearl.lk A post hardcore/shoegaze act based in Limerick, Ireland. THIRD ACTS - 22:00 @la11ee A rapper and producer from Galway, blending soulful, emotional instrumentals with sharp lyricism. @gomie091 A Galway rapper who builds his sound around experimental, atmospheric beats and heavy Hood Trap production.
